Just won a small (8 team) KO tourney with my Nerco team, where the prize was fan favourite. However for reasons I don't understand, the prize had to go to a lineman, in this case a zombie. I got to say having a 70k Fan Favourite zombie is a little meh. Zombies on my teams do all the dirty jobs and fouling so don't hang about too long, either on the pitch or on to unlife. I don't what to change my play just to carry this guy. I mean I can't really find space for my kick zombie until the second half usually. My team doesn't score or concede freely so the +1 FAME isn't going to be a game changer.

Plus I had to pump up my team unnaturally fast to meet the qualifying TV conditions and I'm looking to cut some of the players carrying injuries, all the cheerleaders and assistant coaches, plus maybe that 4th reroll.

If it had gone to one of the Stars on the team it would have been an awesome piece of fluff, but on a nobody; I'm thinking cuttsville.

i agree that its a little odd to put onto an unskilled lineman, but you cant fire him now - hes a prize.

that, and with a bit of effort you can turn him nto an (un)living legend - only two skills away from a blodging zombie. what fan wouldnt have him as a favourite then? only requires a little luck.

stupid rule, and worth more than he adds to the team but will the fans be happy with you

I just looked at the section title of skills and traits queries and assumed it was for querying the benefits and negatives of skills on players. If a mod wants to move it to a more relevant place, feel free.

Or I could make it a two parter. The current wording of Fan Favourite in the rule book implies that both teams should add +1 for each Fan Favourite on the pitch regardless of what side they are on. Discuss.

It's true! All it says is add one to your FAME for every player with Fan Favourite on the pitch. It says nothing about them having to be on your team.

The bonus only applies to the team with the Fan Favourite player.

I'm very confused how the Zombie got it as the award is meant to go to the player who helps you team the most (not the least).

even a Zombie holding the line and staying in the game somehow is helping the team

While I don't understand the decision, that's not to say I don't respect it. It's his league he can do what he wants. The question is, is the zombie worth keeping.

The big strength of zombies is that they are expendable. Foul with them, stick them on big guys, what have you. From a practical point of view you now have a zombie who isn't expendable, messing up how you play the team. From a fluff perspective having a nobody with Fan Favourite seems wrong. And finally I'm looking to reduce the teams TV.

Not to mention the effect on team moral of this player who has only played one game getting all the attention!

No one has put forth any compelling reasons to keep him so I think he is going.

I don't think there are any strategic advantages in keeping the player

However, if I won a skill/stat/player as a prize in a tournament -and- I play with the same people often, I would keep it for flavor/roleplaying/sportsmanship

In this case with a house rule as such I think in the spirit of things you MUST keep he and play him as wildly as you can because he has shown his prowess as a showboat and the crowd loves him

He was probably somebody famous when he was alive.

Imagine having a zombie Madonna on your team. It might make a bad player, shambling forward on micro shorts and stiletto heels, but you'd never cut her out of the team.

No different awarding him FF than a random getting the MVP I would have thought.
