Can you buy a Merc after a game as you can with a Journeyman?
Cheers

unfortunately no.
You can put skills on a merc and it would be unfair to buy them all skilled up after the game.

All inducement purchases are lose at the end of the match, No inducement can ever become a permanent part of your team/
So no.
also think of the mess the rules would be if you could hire a merc with a skill...

Though I think it'd be a fair enough House Rule that you could hire an unskilled Merc after the game.

The only reason you'd do it is if he earned spp... Which would be taking away the trouble with merc, they syphon your spp. By removing this drawback you could "test" a big guy for a game and keep him only if he lands spp. Since the big guys have loner, no loss for you.

This would lead to rulebending, as a skilled Merc might be better at gaining SPPs during a game (at least, he might be better at it than a Journeyman or rookie might be). Example: Warpstone Troll with Claw could easily get 6SPPs in a match.

Even if you exclude the skilled mercs and big guys which is becoming a silly set of exception, a merc skink could get a td and an MVP. I'd hire him for the potential double, I constantly recycle skink anyway now I get one at level 2 to try for a double.
It's making a 90k investment of inducement quite interesting.
Same goes for most throwers who come with sure hands and pass. Loner is less of an issue for them, but they would leave with their completion spp and the MVP.
Go ahead make them hireable if you want but it's changing their value by quiet a bit (the ones that skill up)
