Thick skull and stuntys?

Post by inkpwn »

What happens when a stunty gains thick skull either by a terrible skill up pick or by magic card?

he gets KO on a 7 and stunned on an 8.

The only time you may NOT want to use Mighty Blow to cause more harm

Its just so odd isn't it!? I was hopeing for something like 'stuntys can't gain thick skull' or something.

Usually extraordinary skills are unavailable for skill ups, so that'll be a house rule in the first place.

Thick Skull is a strength skill, so a stunty could take it on a double.

i don't find it odd.

I don't think injuries HAVE to be in ascending order, it's just a number in a table.
out of interest for stunties:
Stun (without Thick Skull): 42%
KO (without Thick Skull): 31%
BH: 19%
SH: 8%

If you take Thick skull it becomes:
Stun : 56%
KO : 17%
BH: 19%
SH: 8%

not factoring MB in the equation. it's not that great for a double skill now is it?

You know what? I have never, ever, ever noticed it there before. I stop reading after Strong Arm, evidently.

Hi,

i think the rules are clear. You get KOed on a 7 and stunned on a 8. The real strange thing is, that you roll a 7, have MB left, you won't use it, to make it a stun but a KO :-). It doesn't make much sense though.

Perhaps a clarification would be:
Thick Skull (strength)
A player with Thick Skull may use the skill, if the injury roll results in a KO. The skill allows the player to substract 1 from the injury roll result in this situation. If after the modification the result still is KO, then the player is put in the KO box, otherwise the player is placed stunned instead. The skill may only be used once per action.

Greets,
gan

The rule works fine as is ... we knew this was there and its a game rule ... and it was a known one ... so its all good and doesn't require rules clarification for an interaction that is so rare as to virtually never occur. (rules should not be changed for 1 in a 1000000000 things).

If you want to go after NOT using Mighty Blow to defeat a Stunty player's Thick Skull than you also have to:

A) Go after the fact that I might choose NOT to use Dirty Player so that Sneaky Git works

B) Go after the fact that I might choose NOT to use Strong Arm or Accurate so that Safe Throw works

Sometimes in the rules there are spots where NOT using a +1 modifier skill is the better answer ... and that's okay.

I agree the rule does work fine, it just seemed a tad odd too me. But I does make sense and doesn't feel out of place in game.

Not sure I understand this one. The safe throw roll is specifically an unmodified agility roll after a successful interception. But if you pass your safe throw check, the passing sequence is supposed to continue as normal. So then you’d roll to see if the pass was accurate or not – adding any modifiers for strong arm or accurate. Correct?

Safe throw now also allows you to avoid fumbling the ball if the unmodified roll is 2+ but would result in a fumble (you still fumble on a natural 1)

So, you throw a long bomb and roll a 2 on the die..if this would be inaccurate because of Accurate or Strong Arm, then you probably want to NOT use Accurate or Strong Arm, so that the 2 is now a fumble--which is canceled by Safe Throw.

kozmo - I think Galak is referring to the use of Safe Throw to avoid a Fumble (not the use of Safe Throw to avoid an interception).

All the best.

Cool – thanks. I forgot it helps with the fumble, too.
