Oberwald for LRv1.3

The Oberwald has finally been updated to match the Living Rules v1.3. The previous version was based on the 2001k rule review and some bits of LR v1.0

The official site is
http://www.vision.net.au/~mhorton/oberwald.html

However, the best place to find it is in the world's largest Blood Bowl Library since it has so much other useful stuff :P
http://www.midgardbb.com/
then select Oberwald Library

For those who don't know about Oberwald it is the Online Bllodbowl Enthusiast's Reference With Assembled League Doctrines. It is totally unofficial but tries to cover all those gray areas that cause confusion.

Most regulars here will have no need of it because they already know all these rules. The Living Rulebook has reduced the need for Oberwald because all the rules are in one place, so there is much less confusion than when it was started. Maybe there won't be any need to revise it again after the current rules review.

It may be useful for leagues to use for an instant decision during a game, then they can ask the gurus here for an official ruling later. In most cases major issues discussed here in the last 12 months have been included using the consensus view.

I have not included a list of changes from previous editions because there were changes on almost every page. A lot of variants and alternates were removed because they have been clarified in LR or they were only used because the previous BB versions were unsatisfactory to many coaches.

I no longer update the Oberwald supplement because Galak's web site (see above) has far more unofficial ideas than I can keep up with. :(

If you find obvious errors  then e-mail me direct and if I ever update it I'll make the corrections. If you want to discuss rulings with everyone else then this is the best place since its the only BB discussion site I visit regularly. :o

I don't see your Email posted anywhere, or in your profile, so I'll just post the only error I found.

With regards to Stand Firm and Horns:

Under Frenzy:
The Frenzying player must move at least one square before the first block to use Horns at all and must also push the opponent back to use Horns on the second block, so he would lose the bonus after the first block against a Stand Firm player.

Then, under Horns:
A frenzying player with Horns will receive a +1 to his ST when blitzing if he moves at least one square before the first block roll and if it applies to the first block it applies to the second, even if the player had Stand Firm
So which is it? Also, I always thought horns ONLY EVER applied to BLITZ!, and NOT Follow Ups (via Frenzy). This needs to be clarified in your manual and kept consistent. Finally, if you Frenzy vs. Stand Firm, and get a Push Back result (or pow/dodge but player also has Dodge and Frenzier doesn't have Tackle...ie SF is pushed back), are you sure the Frenzier get a 2nd Block?

Frenzy/Horns/Stand Firm was the only thing I found to be misleading/inconsistent. Fantastic job otherwise!

I'm pretty sure that Stand Firm doesn't make a difference.

The skill description for horns in LRB 1.3 specifically states that if the bonus applied on the 1st frenzied block it applies on the 2nd. Therefore the clarification under Frenzy is inaccurate.

Indeed it does, I just checked. It needs to be changed in your manual under the Frenzy section.

However, what is the ruling according to your manual (or anyone else reading this thread) as to Frenzy vs. Stand Firm? CAN you Frenzy a Stand Firm player? If so, how? Do you simply get to throw 2 blocks at the Stand Firm player? What is the logic (if any)?

Descri[ption in Horns is correct

Sorry. I should have pasted the description under "horns" into the "Frenzy" section. I must have added this after my sub-editors checked it.

The way it is described in LRBv1.3 the Frenzying player would make two consecutive Blocks from the same square against a Stand Firm player, if the Frenzy player had moved at least 1 square before the first block and rolled a pushback on the first block.

There is an e-mail address on the first page of the document.

After scouring the document with a friend last night, we discovered one more very minor error. Under Fan Factor, specifically starting Fan Factor, you note the LRB indicates there is no limit; this is incorrect. The LRB clearly indicates it can be no lower than 1, and no higher than 9.

Again, this is very minor, but mention it for completeness sake.

Thank you for your work in providing this most excellent document; we are using it to iron out all the little rules nuances for our league, and it has proven invaluable as a resource for quickly identifying any problem areas. Great job!

Major problem here

This is a really serious issue.

The version of LRv1.3 that I donwloaded several months ago has a line on page 17 reading "Your team must have a fan factor of at least 1."

This was a change from LRv1.2 that had the line "Your team must have a fan factor of at least 1, and may not have a fan factor higher than 9."

This was discussed here when LRv1.3 was first posted and some of us concluded that it was a deliberate change. It could not just have been a line left out because the comma after the 1 changed to a full stop.

The current LR is still shown as v1.3 and I just downloaded a copy and found that the line has reverted to the original, as in v1.2 above.

We complained before that revisions were occuring and we were told only typos were changed even though some rules were altered. Now we have the worse situation here there is no way to tell that we have a revised set of rules because it still has the same version number. Now I'm worried that some other changes may have been "fixed" without any of us knowing.

Xynok, Thanks for checking it so thoroughly. However, I probably won't post a revised edition until we hear clarifications from the current rules review, unless that is going to be next March.

Who ever is responsible needs beating with a big stick. Couldn't they just change the version number so that we at least know its been changed.
