Hi all
Can players who are sent off (special weapon etc) be replaced with reserves?
A very amateur question I know, but its never effected me until recently.
Thanks
James

In the beginning of each drive one can field up to 11 players. So, yes.

Correct me guys if I am wrong. :P

Sent off players may not be replaced UNTIL the drive ends (including the end of the half)....

Jani74 is essentially correct....

Back in the old days of +2 to injury for DP and IGMEOY I did hear more than 1 player suggest that getting a player sent off would reduce the number you could have on the pitch.

So just like in football (soccer) if you get a guy sent off on turn 1 then you are down to 10 men for the rest of the game. Could be an interesting house rule for those who’d like the old fouling rules back. The main issue I could see would be keeping track for foul heavy teams like Khemri as most people put sent off players in the cas box.

That's a really interesting idea (a sending off reducing the max number of players on the pitch permenantly). Was it ever playtested?

It allows lots of fouling if you want but with a heavier negative. A negative that has an exponential effect if you get more people sent off.

Can I just say that this would screw goblins completely?

If I remember right in second edition lost players could be replaced from reserves entering from the dugout on your next turn but in 3rd+ players are only replaced at the start of new drive. Fouling is already pretty weak if you lost a total player off the pitch for the rest of the game it would be really bad.

You can, but only if they weren't already completely screwed anyway. :D

Back in 3ed, we had a house rule giving assisting players a yellow card if the foul was spotted. It was effective in preventing too many gang fouls, because we usually stopped fouling afterwards. It was pretty hard, but efficient, seeing the power of DP in those days. It worked well, but didn't prevent dirty players to be the most experienced player on many teams :)

I think the rule you suggest is overkill with the current fouling rules, but if fouling were to be powered up, then why not? it makes sense, and wouldn't be that hard to track (much easier than the yellow cards were actually)
