Diving Catch

Just a quick one:

If a player was to throw a pass to an unoccupied square that was in the tackle zone to one of your players (or an apponents) who has diving catch AND the pass is accururate (i.e. it does bounce), can the diving catch player attempt a catch?

If your team mate catches the ball in this manner will it be a turnover?

Cheers,

Rubick.

(Apologies if this has been raised before)

The player is superb at diving to catch balls others cannot reach and
jumping to more easily catch perfect passes. The player may add 1 to
any catch roll from an accurate pass targeted to his square. In addition,
the player can attempt to catch any pass, kick off or crowd throw-in, but
not bouncing ball, that would land in an empty square in one of his tackle
zones as if it had landed in his own square without leaving his current
square. A failed catch will bounce from the Diving Catch player's square.
If there are two or more players attempting to use this skill then they get
in each other"s way and neither can use it.
The Diving Catcher can attempt to catch the ball as if it were coming down in his own square. So yes you can throw to the empty square next to your Diving Catcher. This is a novel way to extend a Long Bomb to 14 squares.

You wont get the +1 to catch the accurate pass, though, as the pass was not targeted to his sqaure.

It's not a turnover as long as you catch the ball :)

Correct on all counts.

That is a super cool way to extend the range of a pass type.
You are essentially just shifting the modifier from the catcher to the thrower, but that might be better if the thrower doesn't have pass or the catcher has a higher agility.

Nifty.

Commonly used by Slann, in my experience, especially when they are in a tight spot.

What modifiers would apply to the catch? And would 2 players from opposite teams be able to attempt to catch the ball?

You get the +1 to catch an accurate pass if the ball is targetted to the catcher square, you dont if you target an empty square next to the catcher. And all the usual things like tackle zones, weather, disturbing presence......

No, since two players with DCatch targeting the same square cancel each other out.

Although you wouldn't recieve the +1 from the Diving Catch skill you'd surely still get the ordinary +1 for the pass being accurate?!

What I meant was, do you count the Tacklezones/Disturbing Presences on the player catching or the Tacklezones/Dps on the square it's targetted to?

I had wondered about this as well. I looked the other day and couldn't find anything saying otherwise. Hoping to get clarification, but I would personally rule that you would, since I couldn't find anything else saying it had to target your square.

Unless you are playing against Tom and his player threw the ball
