If when a kick-off happens and a Quick Snap (QS) result is rolled, as I understand it, the QS happens before the ball lands/scatters. If someone on the receiving team steps over the LOS into the kicking team's half and the ball subsequently scatters off the pitch, can the ball be given to a player who is now in the kicking team's half of the pitch ?

Also worth pointing out (and no-one would ever I hope be beardy enough to use it) that page 7 of the LRB states "If the ball scatters or bounces off the field ... the receiving team coach .. may give the ball to any player in his team." Surely not one in the dugout. Surely no hard-hitting coach not interested in scoring a touchdown that half would be so unscrupluous as to try that one

The touchback would happen after the ko result is over so yes u could. As for the other, any coach trying that would have his dice (all of them) physically and literally shoved up his nose, but would be alllowed to do it.

I think they have to be standing up on the field to take the touchback - but they could be in the opponents half due to a Quick Snap.

The sequence of a kick off:
place ball, roll for squatter, roll kickoff, apply results from kick off roll, roll for bounce.

So yes you could give the ball to a player from your team who's standing in the other half.

And for the other point; what do you think the refs says when you give a man standing in the DO, the ball?

Hmmm, not quite:

Place the ball on the pitch, roll on the kick off table, scatter ball, resolve kick off results, bounce ball.

yer mojo is right, a lot of results it doesn't matter, but for like a blitz it does ie.

1. place ball
2. roll the blitz
3. roll the d6+d8 scatter
4. resolve the blitz turn
5. if there is someon under the ball they can then try to catch it otherwise roll the d8 bounce

think thats right

The d8 in step 3 is for what direction the d6-scatter will be and not a scatter of it´s own, right?

A funny situation: After a quick snap the ball scatters over the LOS to a player standing there he isn´t allowed to catch it because it is out of bounds. Instead the coach can give him the ball...

and also i guess that can happen

actually thinking about it it seems silly for that to happen, because the scatter happens before you move the players, so it should have already gone for a touchback. The question now is, if the final bounce should result in a touchback, or result in a throw in or whatever. Guess its always a touchback.

Well I believe it comes out the same if you roll on the kickoff table before or after you squatter the ball, don't you?
Look at it again it's the same in my oppinion.

It may come out the same, but it's not THE sequence, is it? And you know what rules lawyers are like .

It´s not the same. You maybe want to see the kick off result before you choose to use Kick or not. So it can make a difference...
