Intercepting a handoff

This came up in yesterday's game: is it possible to intercept a handoff?

We decided it isn't so, since 'Intercepts' refere to passes, and a Handoff is distinctly not a pass, but I remember a discussion (either here or on BBT, or in lala land :P ) wherein it was determined that is is allowed.

The handoff would have to be diagonal in any case, since that's the only way the would-be interceptor, standing next to both opponents can be 'closer to the thrower than the catcher is, and closer to the catcher than the thrower'.

So, am I tripping again, or is this indeed legalized? :smoking:

Tripping. The previous discussion was regarding passes where the square the receiver and the catcher were on were adjacent to each other but a pass was being used (either because the handoff had already happened or the handoff was happening later).

Ah, that explains why I was confused.

Still, there's nothing like being able to send yourself into lalaland without any drugs whatsoever! :smoking:
