Overtime rulings

I wonder if there are specific rulings for overtime after a draw, for example in play-offs?

If I remeber correctly the rulebook says that after a draw you play another half without the benefit of renewing your re-rolls, the recieving team being chosen by another coin toss (or dice roll round our way).

If the game is still drawn I think there are 'penalty shoot-out' rules that basically mean the winner is the player who rolls highest on a D6.

Personally I always like to play overtime but would only use the penalty shootout in a situation that really requires a result, otherwise I would rather draw.

The only solution that our entire league could agree on for playoff tie games was to continue playing overtime until someone scores. A die roll to advance in the playoffs is just a little too harsh.

That's not harsh???

The team in possession of the ball, so the team that didn't score the last TD (most of the time) just playing on to score!!!

Besides, it doesn't even give elf team a.s. the chance to refresh and reposition al their possibly returning knocked out players.

That sounds even worse to me...

Sorry, that was poorly phrased. I meant that if neither team scores in overtime, you play another 8 turns of overtime over again until there is a winner. The lack of rerolls at this point makes for a very exciting game.

Ah, I see, I have misread your post, sorry for that.

And then I must agree; rolling penalties is quite harsh.

The only good thing about it is that it does save time...

I remember reading (here I guess) something of a solution to avoid the d6 roll and still get a result... fast.

Anyway it could be something as this:

"penalties"

The chossen player may pick AG or ST to make this test - just use the AG table.

There could be a -1 modifier if this penalty solves the game....

First make a row of 5, the go on to sudden death...

The way we play it in our league is to keep whatever re-rolls u have left at the end of the second half. The toss is made again to determine who recieves. If there is not another TD scored, in a regular season game, it is called a draw; in terms of making the playoff, the decision is made on which team has the most wins. If there is a draw on most wins (and usually there is), u look next at draws. If there is still a tie (and being as we've only ever had one draw, there usually is), it goes to TD's for/ TD's against. We have never had a tie past this stage.

In semi-finals/ finals however, we just keep on playing more OT halves until there is a result, each time tossing again for who kicks/ recieves, and keeping any re-rolls u may have had left (however unlikely that is).

So far it has worked.

It all depends on: the time you have and the importance of the game...
At the end of a season, there is just too much in the game for any solution without being play until someone scores - but I think that I would prefer to make first a new game, that is: at the end of 1st match make OT as usual, if still draw the game ends (but noone gets extra money/fans for the final) and then the game restarts... if this goes to OT it won't end until someone scores.... (and teams collect then the final (or 1/2) extras)....

If you are in the beginig of a cup, or have no time you can use "penalties"...
