When to reroll?

This has popped up a few times.
Throwing a block at a wrestle guy when the blocker has no skills.
Result is both down.
Does the coach have to reroll there and then or wait for the opposing coach to announce whether or not he is using wrestle.
After the dice are rolled or after the skill use is chosen?

Good question. I'd go with before the skill use is announced.

Isn't it impossible for the player with wrestle to announce his use of the skill or not until the decision to reroll (or not) is made? Until the player rolling the dice has decided which dice he's going to choose the guy with wrestle doesn't even have a choice to make.

I agree with this. It goes to the defender's benefit for having the skill to force you to make the choice first for the bad roll. Because if you choose not to re-roll he may decide to choose not to use wrestle to force the turnover.

I have always assumed that the coach with the choice of dice has too chose which he is taking then the coach with the wrestle players chooses to use the skill.
I would justify it as: Wrestle specifically says that Wrestle is used once the both down is chosen, when the dice are first rolled the active coach has three choices dice 1, dice 2 or re-roll, therefore the Wrestle choice can only come after the re-roll choice. It is a bit of a semantic arguement though.

TBH if i was playing and this situation occured Id declare "Im going to / not going to use wrestle" then let the other coach decide if he wants to re-roll or not.

There is also a bluff to force a reroll.
When the blocking coach goes at tough and the defending coach has to choose to either end the opponent's turn or use wrestle. Big guys bashing wrestlers have to face the power of Mighty Blow.
I suppose dice roll do your reroll y/n
Y reroll
N wrestler chooses whether or not to use skill.

Opponent uses wrestle or not after "both down" has been chosen.

If it's rerolled then it's not been chosen: the result has been rejected. To me, this means:
1. Roll dice.
2. Choose to reroll or not.
3. Choose to use skill or not.

I agree. Mechanics say decide reroll first. In a friendly game I would generally say if I'm using the skill upfront, but in a close game with a $5 plastic trophy on the line I might want to hold my choice as a bluff.
