Chainpushes with Juggernaut

Post by TalonBay »

I couldn't find a definitive answer on this one with my search-fu.

A blitzing player with juggernaut pushes an opponent into another player with stand-firm, can that second player opt to use stand-firm or is it cancelled by the juggernaut?

I would interpret this as the player actually being blocked is the one unable to use stand-firm and any others can. The effect of the block and the skills of the blocker affect the player being blocked rather than any further pushes. I found views on both sides for this one and can see fluff arguments for both sides too, so this is really a case of what's regarded as the "right" way to play it?

In my opinion, only the directly blitzed player cannot use Stand Firm.
The rule says:
"If this player takes a Blitz Action, the opposing player may not use his Fend, Stand Firm or Wrestle skills against the Juggernaut player's blocks."
The rule refers to an "opposing player", thus a single player, not multiple players.
It doesn't include chainpushed players.

must be moved one square away from the player making the
block, as shown in the diagrams. The coach of the player who
made the block may decide which square the player is moved to.
The player must be pushed back into an empty square if
possible. A square containing only the ball is considered empty
and a player pushed to it will cause the ball to bounce (see page
13). If all such squares are occupied by other players, then the
player is pushed into an occupied square, and the player that
originally occupied the square is pushed back in turn. This
secondary push back is treated exactly like a normal push back
as if the second player had been blocked by the first (prone and
stunned players may be pushed this way as well.)
. The coach of
the moving team decides all push back directions for secondary
push backs unless the pushed player has a skill that overrides
this.
My bold. Suggests to me the first player, the Blocker, is still considered to be doing to block. So the Stand Firm would be cancelled by the Jugg.
Just my interpretation, though I do not recall this ever happening in a game or in my league, so I have never thought about it until now :)

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

I read that as the secondary push is as if the blocked player player had made the Block, so yes to Stand Firm.

That "first" part must mean the first blocked player (otherwise the pushback directions would be different), so it does seem to point at the juggernaut of the blitzing player not counting further down the line.

Its clear enough, SF can be used on the secondary push and is unaffected by Juggs

If the player who is blocked has Juggs can he choose to use it on the SF player who is being hit with the secondary push? i.e. if my player hits your Juggs player who is chained into my SF player? lunchmoney's quote suggests this is the case, although there may be something in the rules I have missed as I don't have them here.

Doesn't Juggernaut only work on blitzes?
