Interception

Hmm.. ho. Ok,
Not a question as such, cuz I see that it will be taken up by the BBRC next year. Just a statement really.
I our league, we found so mind numbingly dumb, that you could intercept a pass that was fumbled, that we made the roll for intercetion after a pass was made.
Seems to me, that if the thrower didn't actually manage to throw the ball, nobody would be able to intercept it.
YEah.
That was it really.
Now, I have definitive plans to get unreasonably drunk, and do many things I would otherwise think better of if sober. Also, I have definitive plans to try and get a girl to bed. Probably won't work at all as I planned, but being drunk makes it all the more probable I'll fail. Only upshot is that I probably won't feel too bad about being inevatibly turned down.
Cheers.

Maybe it's your positive attitude the women find so unappealing.

Oh no, Usually I get along well with women. I've been with my fair share I suppose.
Only, one thing I've never ever managed, is actually picking a girl up when on the town. It's like there's some deity of some kind, that has cursed me with the, "love to drink and hit the town, but never be able to pick up a girl there" spell.
Doesn't prevent me from trying though.
Allthough, snotgrots, when you mention it, I really do have a pessimistic outlook on life. That's why I take losing in bloodbowl so good. Doesn't really surprise me much.
The way I see it. Never get you're hopes up, always suspect the worst, and all your surprises will be pleasant ones

I completly agree with you that the rolls should be Pass, chance to intercept, catch...
The only reason I can see that they do intercept prior to rolling Pass is that 1 in 6 passes is automatically a fumble. This lowers the oppurtunities to try an intercept. They're already a rare occurance as is and this lowers it even more.

Bingo ... plain and simple .. this is a game mechanic ... period. It doesn't have to make sense. I don't have a problem with the rule and haven't for several years.
I also have zero issues if you want to house rule it otherwise for your league. In fact the PBeM tool has an option to do just that so I readily acknowledge the fact that some league wish to play it otherwise. My two leagues play it by the book and I haven't seen the issue.

In our league we have added the houserule that Jumpup can be used on passblock to increase the possibility of interceptions.

Thats an impossibility, you can't Intercept a fumbled pass. If it's Intercepted, it can't possibly have been fumbled... can it?

My point exactly.
But like Galak said, it's a game mechanic.
I'd still like to change it though. Make the rule something like, you can't intercept unless the pass wasn't fumbled, and make it worth 3 SSP instead. Honestly, It's the hardest thing to do in the game. Hell, even elves have a hard time of it.
But it might make skaven very powerful, with VLL. Still..
Oh, And of course I didn't manage to pick up any girls. But I haven't got a hangover either. so it's ok.
And BTW, can you jump up on an interception?

No, but you roll the interception roll before the pass roll, so theoratical the pass could have been a fumble but you'll never know.
BTW I don't have a problem with the ruling. I love interceptions (I play WE) so I would like to see the chance of making an interception to be increased.
Le Grand...
Fumble-Interception not THAT improbable...

.... It happens more in non-Pro games, here in the states, but a pressured QB will sometimes hurry a pass or have his arm tipped. Now, technically, it's a fumble or pass depending on the forward motion of the QB's arm....
While this is a real-life example being applied to a fantasy-game mechanic (and, therefore, nearly pointless IMHO), it is conceivable.... Contrived vis-a-vis the mechanic... but conceivable....
Before the Way of Man,
There was the Way of Nature;
And, before that, The Void....
And The Void was... Peace....

I belive I have a foot in both camps, or maybe I'm just shunned by both?
Hmmz..
The game mechanics are what makes the game. But it is fantasy football. And has it's root in fantasy. So I think the mechanics should reflect the fantasy.
