Endzone and Widezone

Given Dode's reply
here, and a checking of the CRP, it seems that the Endzone doesn't count as a Widezone.
Therefore (if I really wanted!) I could put 8 players in the outside 4 squares in the EZ, and a player with Kick in the corner.
Has this changed in the past, or have we just mis-played it for years?

I kind of disagree with Dode, has this been ratified by anyone or can we all just claim stuff now?

Well, hardly " made up", seeing as he based it off the rulebook (which I also checked).

This diagram is, as Darkson suggests, directly from the rulebook: I just added a grid overlay.

Worth noting this from LRB6 page 6:
Each coach must set up 11 players, or if they can't field
11 then as many players as they have in Reserves, between
their end zone and the halfway line, and within the following
restrictions:
My emphasis. "Between", to me, means "not including", i.e. you can't set up
in the endzone. Has it actually been clarified either way at all?

Ah, missed that bit. So I can't do as I asked above, but we have been playing wrong, as players have been set up in the endzone.

Admittedly I have never breached the set up rules as laid out in the ice pelt book and earlier versions however I would gave thought the wide zones extended into the endzone
