Thrud: Allways freeboots?!

I'm sorry... but english isn't my language... and I also get easily confused...
What really means that "allways freebots"?!?
That Thrud only can be hired in league games? Or can he be freebooted by a one match team (I really don't think so, because a in one-off you cann't freeboot - then I would freeboot all my team!!

)...
And as it is just after the price does this means that the 50k are already the freebooting price, or you freeboot him for 25K?
25k appears to be a little cheap, but you are only paying the 1st drive, after that...

He costs 50,000 for one game. He may not be hired permanently.

I've been wondering the same thing about the 1/2 price thing. Is Thrud only 25K? Some tournaments, it appears, allow you to buy one Star Player (for full price???) so you can start with one on your roster. You could never have Thrud on the roster since he only freeboots so you would have to save some cash for the pregame.
As far as freebooting your whole team, a starting roster MUST have 11 players. Freebooting takes place during the pregame setup so you can't freeboot them all.

I know I cann't have Star Players permanently... that's why this confuses me... why to say "special"?
It's like one saying: at the next cross you turn right... but attention, it's really right...
When you arrive at the next cross you see a 90ยบ right, but I would look better to see if there was another road "more right"...
I really don't think you can have Thrudd in a one-off game (as there isn't the freeboot phase, and you pay Stars the full price)...
And I really don't know about the price....
25k appears too cheap for a Star Player... but this one can play half the game agaisnt you....

He can only be freebooted in league-games and then he costs 50k to hire.

It seems a bit strange that Thrud's Specials aren't actually in the LRB(unless I've missed them). That 'see Annual' note kind of goes against the whole idea that the LRB is supposed to be able to stand alone as the rules for the game. I certainly wouldn't want to see any 'see Bloodbowl Magazine #7' in the future - it kind of defeats the purpose of the whole exercise.

You have to Remember that it's Andy who runs the Blood Bowl Tournament.....
It's also Andy who does the LRB....
Put them together and what do you get?
Rules where it appears as though you can buy Star Players and put them on your roster. Why? Because you can in the Blood Bowl Tournament, despite not being able to in League play.
That's my explanation.... Darn Andy's House rules in the Blood Bowl !

Page 42 of the LRB states:
"Star players may only be hired as Freebooters when playing league games. The cost of the Star Player is divided by 2 when he is hired as a Freebooter. This means that the only time you will pay the full cost for a Star Player is when they are being used as a member of a team in a non-league game."
So lets analyze this: Thrud is 50K, but "Always Freeboots." Therefore, according to the above paragraph, Thrud can only be used in League games, because the only time you can freeboot Star Players is for League Games.
Thrud "Always Freeboots" for 50K. It
does not get divided by 2. Why? Because there is NO option to hire him for a non-league match.
Confusing, I know. But, if you use the above logic, it makes sense. They just did a really bad job of explaining it

Where does it say a starting roster must have 11 players?

Code: Select all
Having decided on which team list you will use, you must
now hire the players for your team. Each of the players
in your team will cost a number of gold pieces, as
indicated on the lists. The team list also indicates the
maximum number of each type of player you are allowed
to take for your team. So, for example, a Human team
may not have more than two Throwers. In addition, your
team must have at least 11 players and may not have
more than 16. Within these restrictions you may have
any number and type of player, just so long as you have
the cash to hire them.
