Scattered ball

I always though, that if a player on my team, stood in a square where the ball scattered, I have to try an pick it up, and if I fail it's a turnover. In the list in the LRB it says you suffer a turnover if you fail to catch a scattered pass.

So what if I block an opposing player with the ball. He drops it, and it scatters to one of my players. WHo in turn has to try to pick it ut, and fails, do I suffer a turnover?? I always played it like that, but in the new big league in Stavanger, the League commish says that you don't suffer a turnover unless it's an innacurate pass, and it scatters to you.

Do I have the right of it, or will I have to concede to the commish's vasty superior intellect?

Failing to catch the ball is not a turnover.

Failing to pickup the ball is a turnover (i.e. the ball is lying on the ground and you voluntarily move into the same square).

Making a pass action that is a fumble or loses possession is a turnover.

So if you block an opponent carrying the ball and it scatters to one of your players and he fails the catch, its not a turnover.

I'm not sure but I don't think he even has to try and catch it. You may usually want to try but, say if the player's already moved this turn, you may want to let it scatter again to an empty square or another player.

No the rules say you must attempt the catch now. Hence the threads about this being silly

Ah, so they do. Sorry about that. I'm not overly fond of this but I can why. I don't mind playing it this way.
