Accurate, what if I Re-Roll a pass

Post by akotscho »

Hi,
Accurate gives me a +1 to the dice roll if I pass, it is a Skill. Skills can only be used once per Turn by the player, only if stated otherwise you can use it more than once. So if I fail a pass and have used in that throw my accurate +1 modifier, if I Re-Roll that Pass can I again use Accurate? I think not, but my friends say yes, pls help me out here!

Reading my own thread I think I got the answer myself...
If I fail the throw I just dont use my Accurate, right? So I can try in the following pass again the Accurate Skill...

Well if you think about it, if you added the +1 for accurate and still wanted to reroll using pass, why would you use the accurate on the first roll if it had no affect. Since you choose to use accurate after the dice roll, if you want to reroll the dice then you would use accurate on the second one would you not?

So basically yes you can use it on the second one ;] The rules work out that you could just add it to both rolls, but in actual fact what is happening is what i said above. Even if reading it is somewhat confusing.

Regardless of the fact that your idea of not using accurate for an obviously failed roll is right, I think a re-roll uses all the modifiers involved for the orginal roll. So, it's not a "reset", it's just a second chance for the same thing you wanted to do.

A re-roll is still the same action, you're not making two SEPERATE passes, you're just taking a second die roll at the same one pass. So really, you're only using the skill one time: For that one pass.

Isn't once per turn a 4th ed (don't stone me) rule?

No, the 4th edition rule was One Skill per Action. At the LRB explains that each skill may be used once per action, and each trait has no limit (unless the opposite is specified). It's in the Skills & Traits Section of the LRB, page 34.
