Question about Wild Animal...

The way that I always understood the rule to be is. The Wild Animal
cannot receive assist on blocks in his favor, but if he has teammates
around him, his teammates can still knock out assists of opposing
players.

O.O.O
X.R

If O are three opposing players, X is a linerat, R is Rat Ogre
X cannot assist on the Block even if he had the Guard skill, but he
can knock out the assists of the two players in his TZ.

Does that make sense? The linerat cannot assist the Rat Ogre on the
block, but he still has his Tackle Zone, and that Tackle Zone will
still knock out any opposing assists.

That's right, the linerat still exerts a tackle zone and the opponents cannot assist if they are in an opponents tackle zone (other than the opponent making the block obviously). The Wild Animal skill only prevents the linerat from actually helping the rat ogre with the block.

By the way, as I read the skill the the Rat Ogre can never recieve an assist but they can provide assists for their teammates.

Both of these interpretations are correct.

I had never considered the possibilty of friendly team-mates PREVENTING defensive assists!

The letter of the rule states that offensive assists, i.e. adding to the strength of the Rat Ogre, are not allowed. However, it does not prohibit the cancelling of defensive assists!

heh this forum is soooo bloody useful...
