SPPs for using secret weapons?

Does a player gets completion SSPs for successfully using a blunderbuss(pass+catch)?

Does a player gets casualty SSPs when he injures someone with his Chainsaw/Deathroller etc.? (the secret weapons which can be used instead/as a Block action)

I know, so far only Star Player have secret weapons and they are not earning any SPPs but with the new secret weapon rules coming this question will become valid.

Don't think they do, they never used to...but they could never gain SPP at all before.

No. Casualty SPPs are only rewarded from injuries caused through blocking. To get those SPPs, the player must have thrown the block, broken the opposition's armor, and caused an injury.

so only reward you get of using chainsaw is to kill other teams players?
well...
I think its enough.

If its accurate, I'd say so.

The official answer here is that they forgot to tell us that.

Yes.
Here, the official answer is obviously no. It's been that way in 3rd and 4th ed, and right now only normal blocks nail you SPPs. Using a chainsaw is not a normal block.

Ian, i hope you're not a commish!

First of all I was giving my opinion as I don't believe the rules are clear.
LRB 2.0 pp 39 wrote:Casualties (CAS): If a player kills, seriously injures, or badly hurts an opposing player then they earn 2 Star Player points. The points are only earned if the player blocks an opponent or is blocked by an opponent himself. Casualties inflicted in any other way do not count for Star Player points.
You are performing a block/blitz action so it can be argued either way. BTW I am an assistant commish.

Ian has a point, but I am pretty sure that he is wrong (sorry Ian).

A secret weapon can be used in place of a block action, but it is not a block action, therefore no SPPs. This is how my league plays it, and the MBBL2 as well. However, since there are no SW rules at the moment we could be all wrong.

My guess is:

chainsaw/Deathroller/Bomb etc. = no SPPs (only a "real block" gives you SPPs, SWs, fouling or pushing out of bonds does not)

Blunderbuss = SPPs for completion (you have a pass and a catch roll)

Just my intuition. But then if the BBRC want to have same rules for all SW, then I guess they will rule "no SPP for using SW"!

Under the Blunderbuss, it states "the normal rules for passing do not apply", therefore the Blunderbuss is NOT a pass action.

Therefore:

No SPP's for a completion.
No turnover for an incomplete pass.

Granted, THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL ANSWER, ONLY THE WAY OUR LEAGUE RULES IT.

Bloodbasher Masher: No turnover for an incomplete pass.
This is a terrible rule. Not only does it let Chaos Dwarves punt the ball at will, it also lets them run under their punt and pick it up before the other team goes. Hopefully the BRRC will correct this percieved loophole the next time around.

It's obviously a loophole. The Blunderbus/Bull Centaur combo is highly abusive! But they will only realize this when Hobgoblin-Blunderbus-linemen will be part of every Chaos Dwarf Team from here to Peru!

I think use of secret weapons give SPPs. Why?
The SPPs shows the experience that playeres earn in the matches. A player who always blocks will become an experienced blocker. Then if a player always uses a chainsaw, or blunderbuss or other weapon, he become skillful in the way to use it and better from a match to another.

Our league gives spps for use of secret players, so I will assue the Blunderbus will be no exception. So far we have experienced no problems with it.

It seems pretty unambiguous for secret weapons like the chainsaw or the poison dagger. It's not a real block, so no SSP. :(

In Case of the Blunderbuss things are less clear. I think you don't get SSP for a caught BlunderBall, (though think one should) because it isn't a real pass. This way, if a hobbo passed the ball to an armed Chaos Dwarf, and the Dwarf subsquently launched the ball downfield into the hands of another Hobbo, both the first Hobbo and the ChaosDwarf would score a completion in the same turn. (The Chaos Dwarf would be able to fire the ball because catching can be interpreted as "doing nothing else" as stated by the blunderbuss rules.)

I would also say that a missed shot from a Blunderbuss is a turnover. The turn starts with a player on the moving team in possesion of the ball, and ends with the ball on the pitch (probably) or in the hands of an opponent.
But according to the current rules it isn't, is it?

Maybe it should be both. A miss should be a TurnOver, and a hit would gain you SSP.
