BB Mag #5 question: How much for a Chainsaw?

Post by ZanzerTem »

I'm reconfiguring my team roster at work, and I want to buy a Chainsaw. We are using the Secret Weapon rules from BB Mag #5, but I don't have a copy with me  Can anyone tell me how much they are in the Mag?

Thanks in advance

Heck no they aren't. There is a 50% chance that after the game the ref takes it away from me, if I get caught using it during the game.

If it's a 50% chance, freebooting secret weapons is awfully attractive.

I'll be damned if I purchase a Deathroller for 80k though. What a waste if that thing gets taken away after the game. 30k i can live with.

I was surprised myself when I looked it up. I thought of 40K-50K.
I checked Galaks site, chainsaw costs 60K in 4th ed./MBBL/MBBL2.
Anyway, who knows what secret weapons will cost after BBRC 2003 makes them official, eh?

Ah see, I didn't know that. In any case, I much prefer just buying it outright, makes painting the fig more rewarding. My league uses the SW rules from the MBBL2, except that only linemen may get them.

I didn't think this was an option. But I don't have the mag handy so can't check.

No, it is. Its just hidden in the text. The opposing coach has to roll 4+ to get the SW removed for ever.

Honestly...BB Mag articles are terrible for that, hiding the "rules" in a page-long two-column blurb of rules, description, fluff, and everything else with no rhyme or reason as to what's what. They really need to be written a bit better and have the actual RULES seperated from everything else to make it easier to find things at a glance.

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.

Furelli.

Thankyou.

As far as I can recall the rules were 95% identical to those in the LRB:
nothing has been changed concerning the game-mechanics and the penalty rolls of the secret weapons. The same rules for bringing them on the pitch, using etc...

Only difference is that you may equip one player (goblins=2) of your choice with a secret weapon according to a table which tells you which race can use what weapons and their purchase price. Furthermore after getting sent off the pitch for using secret weapons the opposing coach rolls a D6, on a 4+ the weapon has been confiscated and has to be removed from the team roster. I do not know the prices bc I'm at work but they are different to those found at Galaks site. :(

Neither I do not know if they will keep that prices after the next BBRC. Anyway you should check out the BB Annual 2003 which has all the good stuff from the mags (and it even has the rules corrected/balanced) and supposedely SW-rules, too.
