What happens when a characteristic reaches zero?

As in an Ogre loosing AG on injury table. Does he die, is it a reroll, or is he just lucky and walks away with no penalty at all?

He is lucky and does not suffer anything else. So, no reroll of the injury.

Is that the semi-official approach?

I think that is a topic up for this years review. The LRB says that a stat can not be reduced by more 2 points. It says nothing about what happens when it goes to zero.

I know I've seen it written somewhere. Nothing else happens to the guy.

It's the official rule, and has been that way since 1995.

I can't find anywhere it's written, though. Do you know where it is?

I think (not sure) that it was in the old FAQ from WD182.

This question is on the BRRC Hot List for the upcoming rules review. For right now, I'd go with Chet's interpretation that a stat can't go below 1.
http://www.midgardbb.com/BBRC_HotList2003.html
"Nowehere on page 39 or 41 does it say that a stat cannot be reduced below 1. Several leagues have ruled that this is because a stat can go zero and that kills the player. Since last year, Chet said that a stat cannot go below 1, if this is true; then add this to page 39 and/or 41."

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. We better resolve this question with hoursrules then.

Then this must be yet another case of a rule that got lost in the new edition. I'm positive that in 3rd ed, a stat couldn't be reduced to zero and the reduction was simply ignored.

Its not in the 3rd edition rulebook Zombie unless I've missed it ... just one of those things that everyone has "always known" ... but when we look its not actually there.
