when to heal a failed niggling

The rules state, that an apoth can be used to heal a player, which otherwise had to miss the match due to a failed niggling roll.
So far I have thought that you had to chose whether to use the apoth or not, just after the failed niggling roll, before rolling the next niggling roll (even if the next niggling roll was for the same player - ie he has more nigglings).
But the rules says (p.28 LRB):
Another job well done...
Alternatively, an Apothecary may be used at the
start of the match, to allow one player who is
missing the match due to niggling injury to take
part in the game after all. No dice roll is required
if the Apothecary is used in this way; he is
automatically successful.
"At the start of the match" is that after all niggling rolls have been made? that is just before you setup for 1st half?
And what if a player has failed more niggling roll? According to the quote above, I tend to belive that it doesnt matter how many niggling rolls a player has failed, as it only mentiones a player "who is
missing the match due to niggling injury"

Suddenly I once more find myself conflicted i my interpretation of the rules....

I see it like you have to decide upon using your apoth to cure up to one niggling before the match starts, that is after all nigglings have been rolled.

The most logical way IMO.

I also think you decide after all niggling rolls have been made.

I agree with the second part of your sentence (before the match, after the nigglings are rolled) but not with the first: if you read the sentecne carefully it says that you may bring back one player that must miss the match due to niggling injury. It does not say anything about curing the niggling. Furthermore if a player with several nigglings rolls a 1, he will stop rolling for any remaining nigglings he else has.
The rules say you may bring back the player (regardless of how many nigglings he suffers of)

You are right Narkotic, it is one player who miss the match due to niggling and not one niggling the APO cures.

Then i'm always playing it wrong. My excuses. But i just thought the apoth would have time enough only to cure up to one niggling injury, and not the three nigglings a player may have (plus, not throwing for the second and third if you failed the first was something i did not take into acount)
