Mighty Blow and other questions

Hi All,
I've played BB a few times but only recently acquired my own game, and i have a few questions I hope someone can answer.
1) How does Mighty Blow work? I mean, does one announce wether the +1 is used on Armour or Injury on a turn-by-turn basis or is the initial decision final (always Armour or always Injury)?
2) Does Diving tackle really affect a die already rolled? I would play it like this: Opponent announces a dodge, moves player, I announce using Diving Tackle, I place my player prone in the square just vacated by honourable opponent, then the dodge-roll is made with a -2.
As I read here somewhere, Diving Tackle can turn a dodge that already succeeded into a failure. If this is the official rule, I'm getting Diving tackle for everyone in my team!
I'm sure I'll think of many more questions the more I play BB

Welcome on board!

You choose how to use Mighty BLow on a Turn-by-Turn basis. So, after you've rolled the Armour roll, you can decide whether or not to use Mighty Blow. If you haven't just used Mighty Blow to make the armour roll, you can then use Mighty Blow at the injury roll

Yes, you are right, though I wouldn't advice it on all your players...

When do you exactly declare DT, before or after the dodge roll? Before I hope...
And if it is after and that makes the dodge fail, can the opponent RR that dodge?

Ach, Wailey, Wailey, then it's even more powerful than I thought. So if you don't need it to get through someones Armour, you can use it to worsen the injury? it seems much more exciting to announce it beforehand, so a player with mighty blow might use it to get an extra edge on an Armour roll, and if he didn't need that +1 edge on armour, his Mighty blow goes to waste. Or the coach decides to risk it to be able to get the +1 on Injury, with the risk not making the Armour Roll. Now it's really a no-loss skill.
So Diving Tackle can influence an actually rolled Dice-result. That seems pretty powerful as well, same reason as above, a no-risk skill.
As almost any action can fail in BB (on a natural 1), why shouldn't skills like Diving tackle, Might Blow, Piling on, Dirty Player, etc be fail-safe??

LRB pp15 wrote:... you can choose to use a skill that affects a dice roll after rolling the dice.
You can use a RR (skill or Team) on a dodge that fails due to DT.

Tought so...
I know you can choose to use a skill after the die roll but I didn't know if that was true for actions of the opponent...
So if he dodges, you can wait for the result of the dodge if you want to use shadowing...
Interesting, it makes these skills better than I thought but still not on top on my list...
Thanks

About Mighty Blow: it's not that powerful; it used to be +1 to both armour and injury roll...
It's still a very nice skill, but one player with the skill won't have a huge impact on the game/casualties caused...
About DT, you decide to use it after an opponent succesfully rolled a dodge. Also, if his first roll failed normally, and he used a RR which succeeds, you can then decide to use DT to make his RR fail after all!!!

How tricky! Still the skill is very situational and there are so many skills to pick above it... Good to know tough

since my favourite team is Dwarfs, and I prefer to play bashy whatever team I play, I rarely dodge unless necesary and prefer to just hit the DT bastard as hard as possible!

Dwarfs. Why am I not suprised? I've played a few games with wood Elves against Undead, with pretty low casualties (one time I the elves scored more casualties than the Undead). But last Saturday, I brought the game to a friend in Utrecht who had never played before, I gave him the standard, right out of the box, team of Dwarves, against my Elves. Played only 1 half, (my kick), end result: 3-0 for the elves, at the cost of 2 dead, 1 broken neck and 2 players with broken ribs.
Dwarves are SCARY!
Okay, I realize the +1 isn't that big a deal, but still, it seems fairer and more exciting if the skill has to be declared before dice are rolled.

Sure, If you don't mind taking on a rookie. I need the practice, at least to find out what my favourite team is going to be. Let me know the details.
