Handicap 52 Question

Post by Rathe »

Handicap 52 According to the LRB:
"IN THE BAG! The opposing team is feeling cocky about their chances of winning this match. They can only field the 11 worst players on their team, based on SPPs. This restriction stops for the rest of the match as soon as your team takes the lead."

Say they have 14 players, 3 are out due to handicap. What happens if players currently on the pitch get injured, does that change who can take the field?

I would say yes as otherwise this would mean fielding less than eleven players, when the team clearly COULD field eleven. A bit odd....

(But we are still usind special play cards until we lose them :D)

Yes, it should be worded "the worst 11 in your reserve box, based on SPPs" for clarification.

Handicap 52 - LRB:
"IN THE BAG! The opposing team is feeling cocky about their chances of winning this match. They can only field the 11 worst players on their team, based on SPPs. This restriction stops for the rest of the match as soon as your team takes the lead."

Handicap 15 - LRB:
"I AM THE GREATEST! Two randomly selected players on the opposing team refuse to be on the pitch at the same time for this match only. Only one may be set up on the field at the start of each drive."

The 52 are rolled first, the 11 players who must take the field are decided. Here, if 2 players have the same SPPs and that means one of them cant be on the pitch, who of the coaches decides which player that will be?

After that 15 are rolled, 2 of those '11 worst players' are randomly selected.

52 say clearly that only those 11 with the lowest SPP can take the field. 15 are rolled as stated above. Does that mean that the opposing coach can now only field 10 players?

This happened to me, I played with my 140 TR Dwarf team against a 230 TR Dark Elf team.
The 52 was rolled and it was clear that both his Witch Elves and 3 of his Blitzers were to "sit it out" (he had all the 16 players on his roster). All of them had over 100 SPPs.
Then I rolled the 15, and 2 sucky Line-elves with like no SPPs at all was randomly selected.
We ruled it so that 1 of his Witch Elves (the 1 of those 5 that had the least SPPs) came into play. I would have prefered those 2 sucky Line-elves...

Roll for "I'm the greatest", afterwards decide who should play, then set up the 11 worst (lowest-SPP) players".

"In the bag" should be understood as to force you to play with the 11 worst players AVAILABLE, it won't force you in any way to start with less than 11 players, regardless of how many player drop out due to other handicap results.

Narkotic is right, it should have said 11 worst players available.
And any handicap is worked out first before deciding which 11 is the worst.

only before setting up your team for a kick off, it will be clear which players are available. Then you much choose to set up the 11 players with lowest amount of SPP.

Just to play devil's advocate here...

There is no rule that says you HAVE to field eleven players now, right? If you can only field your 11 worst players, as it is worded now, what keeps you from only being able to play nine if two of those eleven worst are missing the game?

Just a thought, not necessarily one I agree with.
