Hi this is my first post. So saying hello and a question.
The question is why are chaos dwarves not allowed to pick mutations on a double.
This is more of a background/fluf question. I'm not saying that they have to have it but i'am just curious  .

Don't get fooled by the name. They do not worship the Chaos Gods nor live in areas tainted by the Chaos energies (see note below); they don't have access to warpstone either (and even if they had, they don't know how to manipulate it properly).

Note: The plains of Zharr-Naggrund were once corrupted by the Chaos Realm, thus changing the Dwarves into their improved cousins; however, the Chaos Realm contracted and got out of the land, and Chaos Dwarves stood untouched since then.

Welcome!!

No clue, I think they're just plain evil, not really into the Chaos bit of that but you need to ask somebody that plays WHFB and then Cdwarfs as well.

I don't think they need it, perhaps that's the reason, got no clue actually

In 2nd ed. they could mutate, and one of the old 2nd CD minis was actually a mutant, but then WFB fluff changed to what it is today and BB chaos Dwarfs went the same way in order to fit the overall fluff of the GW product range.

thanks for the quick answers. I agree that they don't need the mutations
i was curious and i have the 4,5 and provisional 6 th edition of the chaos dwarf army. They don't really worship the 4 gods but Hashut. So i am just a verry curious person, thats all :D

I was talking of the 2nd ed. BB Chaos Dwarfs minis, not the WFB.

Wouldn't it have been beter to change the name of the race to Evil Dwarfs. Or Dark Dwarfs. To avoid the confusion.

Actually chaos dwarfs are mutated! Just look at the tusks and bull centaurs. You could argue that they don't know how to use their mutation efficiently but through the course of playing start to use them. In this case some specific mutations would be elagable for the chaos dwarfs (fangs, stone skin).

I find this very logical, but I can understand that some people would argue that chaos dwarfs would be to good if they could have mutations

The access to mutations is just based on fluff, nothing else (like RR price)
I haven't made my mind if it would be broken to have mutation access for Cds.

Imagine Skaven having no access to mutations now, everyone would say that it would be broken if otherwise...

As I said earlier, Chaos Dwarves mutated long ago, but they don't mutate anymore, as the influence that Chaos had over them disappeared. However, they kept the changes that Chaos already made on them (such as the tusk or the bull bodies). However, they aren't influenced by the changing sphere of Chaos, so they are now a stable specie. Think of if as evolution: Some dwarves stood unchanged while the others, who got in a new enviroment, evolved to adapt to it, thus becoming a new specie (I know biologists will bash me for doing such an afirmation, but hey, Chaos can work as a Cathalyst of change, can't it?).

Oh, and I think than only Chaos teams should have access to physical traits, and that some of them (such as two heads or extra arms) should be turned into physical skills. This would make Chaos teams a bit more varied and develop some tactics apart from crushing.
