Actions: Catching, Standing up, and Jump Up

Post by McTavish »

Hi, I'm kinda new, so I've got a few questions. Perhaps these'd belong more on the newbie forum, but eh well.

Once a player has finished his turn he cannot do anything else this Coach's turn, right? If I only moved three squares of movement and arbitrarily ended the player's turn, then realized he'd be better off somewhere else, I'd lose the leftover movement, right?

Is catching the ball an action? Say I throw a pass to a catcher-type, everything goes well and the pass is caught. Is it now immediately the catcher's turn, or can I take another player's turn first? Does a thrower lose the rest of his movement after throwing a pass?

Is standing up from prone an action? I realize it costs three movement to do so, but does doing so start the player's turn?

If so, how does Jump Up change this? If it doesn't cost him any movement to do, can a player stand up and not technically have started his turn yet?

Technically yes, but a player's action doen't have to be declared 'over'. I guess once you declare an action with the next player is the cut off point.

Catching the ball is not an action. The catcher is not 'activated' and doesn't have to take his turn immediately. (You're also free to throw to a player who has already completed his action that turn.)
The pass ends the Thrower's action.
Is standing up from prone an action? I realize it costs three movement to do so, but does doing so start the player's turn?
Standing up is part of an action, so yes, it starts that player's turn.
If so, how does Jump Up change this? If it doesn't cost him any movement to do, can a player stand up and not technically have started his turn yet?
Jump Up lets you stand up without paying the cost of 3 MA. The player is still activated and Jumping up begins his action.

Yes, the player can Jump Up and throw a block at an adjacent player, instead of having to get up, spend 3 movement and make the blitz.

Well, as Skummy states, you can still throw a block with this player - however, by using Jump Up, you have "activated" the player (using Deathwing's terminology), and you have to throw the block immediately after jumping up. So you can't just stand up all your jump-up guys at the start of a turn, and then come back to them later to throw the blocks.
