Suppose you have a vampire and he hypnotizes an enemy player. The vampire then blocks another player who is standing next to the hypnotized player. Can this hypnotized player assist the player being blocked?
I think he can't.

he only loses his tackle zone
and as the rules stand that doesn't stop you assisting, same with fialing bonehead etc
of course he can only assist if not in another enemy tz or he has guard
but note that cause he doesn't have a tz any more he doesn't stop other assists for the blocking player, even if they don't have guard
so basically yes he can still assist

I see. But it seems so odd, if you imagine it in real life. If he's hypnotized, he can basically just stand still and do nothing else. How does he assist if he can't move?

Its on the Hot List to change it so it works like you think it should.

Question is will the bbrc see it the way most of us do, and will they see it this year.

Well I know the opinions of 2 of them on this.
One of them thinks it should be changed so they are like they aren't there.
Another thinks it has a lot of merit, but was concerned it would Hypnotic Gaze too good. However, he was willing to admit that the change to OFAB does severely reduce the effectiveness of HGaze.

(What's OFAB, by the way?)
About hypnotic gaze being too good. It is a racial characteristic after all, so it can't be learned by most players.
In fact, I think only vampires can use it. And they are quite expensive, like Count Luthor.
I think that to be hypnotized, is to basically not be there, and only occupy space on the board.
Lets hope they change the rule then. As the old rule contributed to a 4-3 loss of my Undead against the Skaven. (if I remember correctly)
