cornered!

let's assume the ball is on the north-west corner square of the board (in chess terms "a1") and something tells me to scatter the ball once.
Oh my, I rolled a north-west... how should I make the throw-in then?
The rules says that the center/centre arrow must point "the opposite sideline" but in this scenario there is not an opposite sideline.

my ruling: 1-2 east, 3-4 south-east, 5-6 south. starting from the "a1" square. Is this ok?

good question doubt there is an official answer

personally i would do it from the sideline rather than the endzone (though you could d6 for it)

so 5-6 would mean it doens't get thrown in but you would then do it from the endzone rather than the side

3-4 and the ball would go stright along the end zone

1-2 it goes diagonally back out onto the pitch

though you could quite happily do it the way you said as well ;]
