Attacking own players

Hi, sorry to bother you again, but yesterday a quite strange question came up:
Am I allowed to "block" my own players?
The idea was, that the little skinks movement was 1 field short to the endzone, my Kroxigor was right behind him - so with blocking the skink with the ball the kroxigor would have 2 block dice and a good chance to get a pushback result. After that i would have my missing movement...

no you aren't allowed to

the rules say "an opposing team player" in the blocking section

We had this in our league, we allowed it for a short while as it was humourous (although it is against the rules, a little house rule) but people started too abuse it, these were in the days of when frenzy carried on blocking, all of a sudden we had dwarves scoring in one turn, not good.

As Grumble pointed out its clearly stated in the rules that you can not.

I love the devious minds that think out these options! you have to give them credit. A beautifull abuse of a rule that is not there!

FORBIDDEN it is. All the better. If it were allowed I'd probably roll either POW, Block/POW or just that beautifull skull the dice come with! :D

Draco,

That is why we did allow it for a while, until people started abusing it.

I would say: if you want it as a house rule, go for it, only let the opponent choose the Block result. Let's see how many people would want to throw 3 die blocks against their own players then.

Just wanted to say: Why don't I ever invent this kind of things to win a match! (probably cause I'd throw that skull anyway!) :smoking:

It IS however legal to push an opponent into your own player, pushing him forward for that extra square of movement. Takes a bit of planning, and often goes pear shaped, but its a perfectly viable tactic for last turn heroics. (CF the game between Marcus and IanWilliams in Bugmans, the friday pre-BB. The Rookie Skaven One turn TD.)

I do the same with WE all the time. Not that I succeed all the time though. One of the best failures was at madhobbits massacre. Last turn of the half , picked up the ball on a 5+ and made 3 difficult dodges, pushed a line elf one or two squares and then the bastard fails his dodge. The fun thing was my opponent was pretty sure I could not score anymore becaused he took out my only catcher in scoring position. And he was right, but then he marked my lineman. Big mistake! You should've seen his face when I got the ball there. Then again, you should have seen my face when I rolled the one! :D
But its a good tactic anyway. Sometimes pushing your own player is safer then making go-for-its!

Fine, but your opponent gets to choose the dice. :D

Also you could say that the player you are blocking can't use any skills to avoid being knocked over, since he isn't expecting it... I mean, it's not like he's standing near the endzone saying "I can't go further! Push me!" even though that's the way it feels when moving the models.. Just a thought..
