Duh, where am I?

Post by campaigner »

Hi guys.

I've got a quick question. Last time I played a friend and I rolled the "Duh, where am I?" result on the handicap table. (the one where one opposing player gets boneheaded)
it hit his ogre and since he refused to roll again, we agreed that he (the ogre) got Double Bone-Head for that match, meaning two rolls each turn.

How would you handle this? Is there an official ruling on this?
Will the player get Really Stupid instead (what if it hits a troll)?

thanks,
c

My house ruling would be:

Reroll the result.

I would say nothing happens. You get this sometimes with the handicap table. Rolling virus against a team without nigglings or as I once did getting an iron man that promptly failed his niggling injury roll. It's just bad luck

I would probably say an ogre gets really stupid and if it is a troll, then it is wasted.

I agree with your first assumption, double bonehead. It's just the same as a double niggle player. You roll twice and pray.

Why not just have it put on another player?

I'd agree, its one of the weaknesses of the handicap table.

e.g. Virus is completely useless unless your opponent has got a niggler.

Getting a bonehead player with bonehead again is just the same.

I like the double Bonehead idea personally, probably because I'm used to multiple Niggles/Old battle Wounds.

well, simply as it is, he refused to. so I made the double Bone-Head proposal which he couldn't refuse.

it was my second roll ever on this handicap table and I didn't want it to be wasted

Another nice example of bad luck would be buzzing on a norse blitzer. He gains nothing but now cannot handle the ball any more. Than again buzzing does not say if it is a player of your choice or randomly selected.

(I wait for the day I roll buzzing for my treeman)

If it doesn't say random then its your choice.

this is the problem with the handicap table it is there to give those disadvantaged teams a helping ahnd then you get tough luck treatment with the rolls itself, ie imho a reroll should be made anytime there is a no effect roll ie virus on a team with no niggling injuries, because in the end a handicap is there to even the odds so one that does nothing,

(ie one time in a tournament game my opponent had 2 virus i had no niggling injuries and Nicky Finn, i had no cheerleaders or assistant coaches or wizard and being a nurgle team couldnt haev an apothecary, now up till now the rule was you get what you get but you cant have the same thing twice,

so as a result my opponent got nothing from the handicap system due to the rules as they seemed to stand.
