Question on Re-rolls in the Penalty Shoot out.

Ok, it's never come up for me, but now I have a team with 5 RR's and skill RR's it "might" one day.

In the Shoot-out, a RR gives +1 to the dice roll, and ties must be re-rolled.

Say 1 have 2 RR's and roll a 2, while my oppponent, with none, rolls a 4. With my re-rolls we tie, so re-roll. Now my question is, are the RR's used up, or does the modifier always count? So if on the re-roll I roll a 3 and my opponent a 4, who's won? It may be just my reading of it, but the LRB seems a bit vague.

I haven't seen this situation in real live either, but would say you can re-use the re-rolls. So in your example you would win.
We just keep playing overtime until a TD is scored, so it won't happen to us. :-)

Well, our TT league had ties (we had a time limit to play to), and the PBeM league(s) I'm in play one 8 turn OT period and then the shoot-out, so I'm interested to see what others think.

Hum... I think you still have the bonus as you were lucky enough to save few rerolls (or voluntarily kept them) until the shoot-out.
And furthermore, rerolls represent the training and the experience of the team, so it's quite logical that you have an advantage upon your opponent.

In every other reroll the game uses, all the modifiers apply. I'd say that you still get the bonuses. Of course, leader, trophy, cheering fans, and brilliant coaching rerolls won't count.

You can only use TRR on players. Isn't the penalty a coach roll?

No any TRR you have left after OT you can add to the dice in a shoot-out, i believe this is said in the LRB.
And i would also say it applies to the second time you roll if the first was a tie also.

LRB pp16
If neither team scores, then the match is a draw or can be decided by a penalty shoot-out: each coach rolls a D6, high score wins, re-roll ties! Any unused team re-rolls add +1 to the D6 score.
 I don't think I've ever had a game go to penalties.

As the part «team re-rolls add +1 to D6» is after «re-roll any ties» I guess it's logic they are still added... :)

I agree with you Joaquim, but it might be written more clear to avoid questions like this! :smoking:

Since it doesn't say you are actually using the rerolls (which you don't) they remain unused rerolls no matter how often you have reroll a ties.
