If you intercept a thrown bomb, does it count as an intercept for SPPs?

Needs a 6 just like a normal intercept........

every interception is 2spp doesn't matter what the range was

the range doesn't affect the chance to intercept at all, intercepting a quick pass with ag3 is a 6+ just the same as the intercepting a long bomb

I put it down as 2 SPPs during the game as first of all it was my Orge
that got it, 2nd of all the damn thing knocked him out ;-)

I'll take the 2 SPPs away if I have to........

The section in the LRB under intercepts mentions the ball, the section
on SPP's does not mention the ball under intercepts...

I would say that it doesn't give spp then if it mentions the ball in the intercept rules section

Well, if you ask me, it should give SPP's... even though it might be a stupid thing to do, the player is already punished by the fact that the bomb may go off...

But nobody is asking you...

Anyway, LRB page 30. BOMB

The bomb is thrown using the rules for throwing the football. Doesn't that say enough. You should even get a 'courage' award for being so brave/stupid as to willing to intercept a bomb (I know protection of beteer players blabalbla).

Page 39 LRB: If a player succesfully makes an Interception after making an interception roll then they earn 2 SPP.

It doesn't mention ball, so bomb should do just as well! :smoking:

One fine day, I no longer need to wait for people to ask me about how to do something... I can tell them to 8) :P

Global Domination Progress Bar: 0,6%

Progress may be slow, but it's steady! One day...

Hmm, let's see there's roughly 6,000,000,000 people in the world, 0,6% of those equals 36,000,000... WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED???? :D :D :D

If this is correct, the Gobbo Leeg just got more interesting - a AG5 Catch gobbo just for plucking Bombs out of the air.

Here's some rulebook snippets to back up the current stance:
One player on the opposing team may attempt to
intercept a thrown ball. To be able to make an
interception, the player must be between the player
who threw the ball and the player who is meant to
receive it, and the plastic ruler must pass over at
least part of the square the intercepting player is
standing in. Note that only one player can attempt
an interception, no matter how many are eligible.
it in their own square.
Now this mentions the ball only. However not all is lost:
The bomb is thrown using the rules for throwing the
football. The bomb may be intercepted or caught, in
which case the player catching it must throw it again
immediately. This is a special bonus action which takes
place out of the normal sequence of play.
So more than one interception can occur per turn - as 'it takes place outside normal sequence'. However only one person can attempt an interception per throw (of the bomb)

Yet here:
Interceptions (INT): If a player successfully makes an
Interception after making an Interception roll then they
earn 2 Star Player points.
So I would conclude that yes - an intercepted bomb is 2 SPP's

This same question came up in my league and after perusing the thread from 6 years ago, I don't agree that this consensus still holds under the current rules (LRB5). The quote that takes precedence for me is from page 26:

"Interceptions (INT): If a player successfully makes an
Interception of the ball after making an Interception roll then they
earn 2 Star Player points."

Ball is italicized in the rules, not by me, meaning the rules writers have given it preference.

No, no SPP for intercepting the bomb, just a chance not to be blown to pieces.
