Too many players on the pitch?

Okay, last night I was foolish enough to field 12 dwarfs at once.

(seemed like a great plan!

) Well, I saw it first, at the begining of my turn, (I kicked to him) and we then tried to decide what to do about it.
I figured since I caught my mistake, I would just pick up one of my players. However, in the sense of fairness, we decided to roll my 12-sided die, and randomly pull a player.
Well, was this correct, or should I have lost a reroll? Should my opponent have picked? How should we have handled this?
Thanks.

I did the same once with my dwarves. Seems like dwarves are tricky.
I simply just talked about weather to my opponent until the first half was over when I removed it and he did not notice it
Why telling him when you know it will be difficult to find a reasonable solution???
But, if he does notice (more intelligent than the players I play against thus...but more difficult to win), the fairplay thing to do is remove the more logical player you would have removed at the begining (if your opponent agrees with the same player) or roll a 12-dice as you did.
If he does not notice, try tu put a 13th player for the second half, it really increases your chance to win!!!

The general way its done is to randomly decide the player removed,
d12 does the trick

Well, shame on me
I must say all that was only kidding!!!
It surely happened twice and we first tried to agree on which payer it was more logical to remove. We agreed but another time it was more complicated and we roll a 12-dice.
I have another question though:
What happens if a player plays whereas he was to be out for the match due to injury and the opponent does not notice it?
Is it his mistake not to have noticed and nothing happens?
Can he say at the end "oh, But this player was not supposed to play" and the game must be played again?
Other solution?

And how can fix it out if the winner against whom the player was not supposed to play does not want to replay the game (because he won) but want a sanction against his opponent who did not respect the rule?

man i always count mine and my opponents players before the kick off ;]
i think the other coach should choose who to remove
that will learn the other guy not to do it again

Well... I like to align all my players before the match....
But once I forgot to select 11 to play, so my goblin team started with 14 players..!!..
We decided that it was up to my opponent to pick the players to get off the field...
Goblins versus Undead without any Big wasn't a nice thing to see....
In our small league we don't use the «Illegal Procedure» rule, but allowing the opponent to pick the players is really a good way of ensuring you don't make that mistake again....
The question about the injured player playing is more tricky... but, anyway the rule should be the same: opponent picks.
If he wants he can replay the game. if he doesn't...
Well, in that case you cann't say the injured player made a so big difference, so, he (the injured) should lost any SPPs from that match and for me it should be enought....
He cann't pass the miss to next game, because that would (probably) benefict another coach...

Yeh, I agree. But the opponent chose that, instead of anything else (he did not earn any spp during that game), he must miss the next game even if it was against someone else. (but we did not want to replay the game, well he, even if he had lost)
Once, my opponent was placing his players and told me "well, that is perfect for me and I must admit I think I've never been so well placed, there is not any hole in my defence, averything is perfect". After a few seconds of reflexion, we realized he had placed 14 undead players too!!!

If a player is played who shoueldn't due to injury and it is not noticed either until the end of the game or well into it, I'd say carry on, but he automatically roles again on the serious injury table at the end of the game.

Well, that seems to me like a very house rule but it is one way to fix it.
I would say it is also to the opponent to notice it.

Agreed
In fact a friend of mine regularly sets up with 12 players, but only when playing Orcs - kind of more like them to do this. I of course am used to this and count all the time and he just removes one. Mind you he will never foul when playing Elves, so it sort of balances out.

Well we just roll D12 and remove a player randomly.
Very fun though if you are lucky enought to get the ball carrier out

That's the ECBBL house rule.

I also usually count the players before each kickoff but once in a while it happens that me (or my opponent) put up more players than allowed.
the coach who notices it is then allowed to put as many players into reserves to make the player number legal again... yes, playing halflings without a big guy is no fun at all

I did this once without purpose with my Orcs (we noticed when one Orc was knocked out and i tried to find my reserve player

)
We call it cheating and thats ok as long as youre opponent doesnt find out and when he does just take him of the field.
I think it should be the concern of the opposite coach as long as he does not complain do what you like.
i had a similar case once when we had a kickoff roll where the Fan Factor was added and my opponent said he had 7 and won the roll.
After the game i looked trough his teamsheet and he had only Fan Factor 5 (i would have won the roll) but i wasnt pissed i just said that next time i will check my opponent better and that was it.
