Inspiration Handicap Result

Hello!

I played a game a few days ago in which I rolled 14 (=INSPIRATION) in the handicap table. The guy I was playing against, who is a frequent TBBer (I won't mention bluetooth's name), told me that he has read a thread on this on TBB. He said that according to the rules gurus here, it means that if you go over the required SPP for a new skill, you automativally get a skill (no skill roll as in the modified table I've seen on TBB). I took him for his word, but the next day I just had to check and I couldn't find any such thread on TBB. My best guess is that he remembered a thread on Intensive Training, in which it is clear on the handicap table that you get a skill - no skill roll.

So, I put it to all you guys here:
If a player who gets the MVP from Inspiration handicap goes over the limit for a new skill, does he (os she as in this case) get a skill roll or an automatic skill?

LRB pp43 "If the additional SPPs are enough to give him a new skill then generate it immediately."

I'd say that means make a skill roll.

'inspiration' works as a controled MVP, i.e. you decide who gets an MVP normally randomly attributed. So ultimately, this is just 5spps. I don't see why this should be interpreted as having a special effect, i.e. only giving you access to skills, and not any of the rest that dice could possibly grant you...

Yes, the thread was on intensive training. Inspiration is completely different.

14 Inspiration: Watching the opposing team in a previous match has taught one of your players a thing or two. Pick a player on your team and give him an extra MVP. If the additional SPPs are enough to him a new skill then generate it immedeatly.
Thats the whole handicap description and there can be no doubt that you get a new skill.

Generate translates as roll in almost every instance I can find....So you would make a skill role, If they wanted it limited to a defined skill, then they would say, 'choose a skill appropriate to that player', or some such thing

Off course you must roll for it first.
I thought that was obvious.

sorry, I thought you were siding with the 'skill' only, no possible trait or stat. My bad
