Lending the team treasury

The Dwarf team in our league has amassed a huge pile of cash (from using the Alchemist). The Coach is wondering if he can "sponsor" some of the teams at the bottom of the table to buy an Apothecary or a Master Chef.

What have other leagues done in this situation?

as long as the league commisionar knows it's OK to loan money (or give). We have a system which includes bounties, maybe an idea?

1. the team lending out the money should not allowed to play a match before he gets money paid back, alternatively money that has been lended still counts for the TR (of both teams)

2. there should be a fixed interest rate, 1:2 or whatever you see fit.

3. things can get very ugly, for example you play the finals or the play-offs and one of the teams needs just 10K for being able to freeboot a star-player or to buy a TRR. That coach borrows 10K and either pulls Griff or lowers his TR via a new TRR, escaping a handicap or even receiving a handicap roll whereas he wouldn't have got one without the borrowed money. Now tell that the opposing coach... :(

You could just lend it on the express purpose it isn't used for TRRs, as that's something extra-special. I would think that it should be limited standard players and coaching staff (including apothecaries and such)

Money that has been lended still counts for the TR of both teams is a definite. If you think you need more then that fine, restrict more.

I agree with Narcotik that it's a bad idea in general. Easiest example would be in the playoffs, when a few coaches get together and decide that no matter what, that damed (insert race here) coach isn't going to win the trophy again. Everyone donates 50k to the opposing human team, and they freeboot Griff, Luthor and Zug. Bad feelings all around.

Since I recently lost my lurker status due to extremely careless behaviour on my part, I might as well post here.

In my personal opinion any house rule that allows the transfer of money from one team to another has the potential of opening a huge can of worms. Some might not abuse it, but you know there are always those who will, someday, and that usually doesn't result in a situation that can be classified as fun.
