Reading the rules carefully I'd say no, you cannot make a short pass using strong arm. The rule at Dump Off says that you are allowed to make a Quick Pass, and nothing more. It does not say you can make a short pass after which you can use the Strong arm to reduce the range on the rangeruler to quick pass. :smoking:

sorry, but that is not enough for me,
strong arm says: "reduce the range by one band"; " a long pass is treated as a short pass",
so I think he can use his strong arm, I don't see any problem.

When LRB 3.0 this will be fixed in the wording.

You cannot use Strong Arm to throw Long Passes in a Blizzard or Dump Off to Short range.

The limitation on Dump Off and Blizzards pertain to physical distances ... ie the maximum range allowed based on the conditions. Strong Arm doesn't actually reduce the physical distance so it cannot be used on these two events.

A Strong Arm does not make the short pass he is making a quick pass. He is only allowed to use the quick pass modifier for a pass roll. It doesn't say that a short pass all of a sudden changes into a quick pass!
Same goes with a blizzard result on the weather table. Strong arm there doesn't make that you can throw a long pass, just because you can treat it as a short pass, iew use the better modifier on the dicerolls!
In this case Dump Off clearly states you are allowed to throw a quick pass, nothing more! :smoking:

thanx Galak, that's the type of answer I was looking for.
But it would be a nice bonus to be allowed to do that. :(
