picking up the ball

Post by ORTHODUB »

just a quickie, if a player is blocked and pushed back into a square with the ball is he allowed to attempt a pick up or does the ball scatter automaticaly. The other part of this question is when you are pushed back from a block and there is a choice of squares, one of which the ball is in are you permitted to push the player into the ball ?
Thanks

well put longfang

you may only pick up the ball if you initiate the action....basically it has to be your turn, and you have to move the guy into that square

and pushing a guy into the ball can be a good tactic to get it out of a few too many TZ's

As Ed. If a player is pushed on the ball you scatter it. You are allowed to catch it if it scatters in your hands!

AFAIK you can push a player on to the ball if there is NO empty square available, but I will look that up for you! :smoking:

@ Draco - a square is only occupied by players, not the ball, so you can push a player onto the ball, even if there are other empty squares.

thanks guys, thats the way we have been playing it but just wanted to make sure it was legal. I agree though, it can be a very good tactic. However on most occassions i balls it up and end up catching the ball with the player who just blocked; doh
thanks
