Hi Everyone,
I'm a newbie with a simple question. I've just joined a local league of about 30+ teams. I want to play humans for the variety of options they give me. The league is quite bashy with about half the teams being chaos, orcs, dwarves, and undead. Another 10 are mixed --- human, norse, amazon --- and the last five or so are he and we.
However, the problem is that my team has to be new (TR100) while practically every other team has played one season (they've played only one season so far). Thus there are half-dozen teams with a TR of 250+, most have around 200 and no team has a TR of less than 150.
The league has also done away with the handicap table, opting instead for their own point allocation handicap --- the long and the short of it is that if playing a 200+ TR team my team would only get two rolls on a watered-down variant of the table rather than the four rolls and one choice (I would obviously go for the worst 11 players option if I could!).
I'm currently toying with this line-up:
3 Blitzers (270k)
1 Thrower (70k)
1 Catcher (70k)
1 Ogre (120k)
7 Linemen (350k)
2 Rr (100k)
2 Ff (20k)
This way I have the bashy ability, a good running game (especially against AG teams --- sprint through their lines with a Blitzer and sack the ball-carrier), and a weak but possible passing game.
Any thoughts or suggestions for a starting line-up, strategies, card choice, that kind of thing?

Re: New Human team in power league
Thanks coldsteel but a high FF won't help me much. As you said I'll be playing teams with FF of 15+ so the money will still be good and even if I go for 9FF then I'll most likely lose any FF challenge in the kick-off table. I'd rather have the extra player to make up for the casualties I'm going to take against the bashy teams.

I'd drop a lineman for an Apoth, to protect against the loss of your better players. I'd also suggest upping your FF as Coldsteel suggested. Yes, you'll use the bigger teams FF to gain money, but as your team gets towars their level, unless you've been lucky with the FF roll, you'll find that the money will diminish more than expected.

An APothecary might be a good idea but as I've already said, a high FF won't make a bit of difference. I'm probably going to lose nearly every FF contest anyway (even if I start with 9FF I'll still have to beat the average FF of 15+). Added to which, I'm probably going to lose most of my early games (for a long time...) so my FF is going to drop rapidly. Thus if I spend money getting FF at 9 to start, it seems a complete waste. I have a 1 in 6 chance of it going up, and most likely a 2-3 in 6 chance of it going down. Not good odds. Best to keep FF low and spend the money elsewhere.
Come on guys, can't anyone suggest something other than having a high FF? I'm due to start playing next week and could do with some suggestions.
