think most people would agree always start with at least two rerolls. Huge benefit from buying 9ff over 20games plus in a league, so put that down on the list. leaves not a lot so norm 10line and 1wardancer about right.

Played in vault with 1wd 1catcher 1 thrower 8line and 2rerolls. the positional men rocked but the team is basicaly weak on defense.

Best advice i found so far 'dont get killed'. simple idea works as winning a bit losing a bit, but protect team till about 13players. then team established and go for it. big problems if you win but take a beating, av7 teams can evaporate pretty quick

I went with the conservative -

1 Wardancer
10 Linelfs
2 RR
8 FF

First game last night was a 2-2 draw; the master chef took both my re-rolls in each half & I rolled a number of ones early in the game.

I ganged up on a Gobbo for a 3 dice Block --- TRIPLE SKULLS for the
first time in the 150 games or so that I have played.

Won 100k winnings & got 20Spps, wardancer now has sidestep & I got
Leader for a linelf on a double --- linelf was MNG & picked up a niggle so
I dropped him & bought a catcher. (this also keeps my TR down)

Apoth will be next purchase, then the other WD, then the Treeman.

Big mistake. You should have bought an apoth immediately. Let's hope you'll get away with it.

-- Yes -- I thought 11 players for the 2nd game would be better than
10 players + Apoth.

But I will have to be careful with my next game & be selective (if possible) with my choice of opponent (the other wood elf team in the league is down to 9 players -- (no wardancer) --- so hopefully it will be against him.)

As the apoth would have been your 11th player, you will sooner or later realize that he's much better than an 11th player. I really hope you won't lose a positional player.

Actually, an apoth is the first buy no matter what for any team that can afford one IMO. I'd rather lose a game than a player.

I must admit I buy the extra lineman before the Apoth normally, but
then again all my other teams are tougher than my woodies.

Gobbos/Haflings I would start with an Apoth.

Just a matter of preference --- tempered by the volume of previous
catastrophe...............

P.S. I would love to play woodies in a 1.25k starting league.....
