Chaos Dwarfs or Lizzies,

Post by jimmy944 »

Hey guys, after finishing mid-table with my Dwfs first league(see sig) I am thinking of moving on to something a little more dynamic. Basically its a bang up choice between Lizzies and Chaos Dwfs and I was wondering if I could get some advice.

Lizzies
Probably my current favorite, I would like to play the ultimate running game with these guys. A few BT on the saurus, shiftingh the point of attack, running in channels, that sort of thing. Now some questions

Would you start with a krox, I am quite tempted just because in the guys I game with tend to be very bashy, and I could use him as the centre of attention on the LOS while the ball carriers actually get on with the scoring. Also, would the above game plan be possible with the lizzies?

Chaos Dwarfs
Ok, in my opinion a pretty handy team. But cursed by several in our league as "unplayably poor." I do get the feeling that this is a bit of sour grapes on the part of the guy who finished low with them though  and when I told him so he challenged me to play them so I may just. My idea for a roster is something like this.

1BC
1Mino
5HobG
5C Dwfs
3RR
6FF
Either that or go for a Troll and swap a hobgoblin for an apothecary. What do you guys think?

The league will be 24 games long and theres going to be a good mix of teams, chaos, elves (pro or high), amazon, skaven, undead human and me.

Any advice you gus would care to impart?

EDIT++ Bl**dy spelling

I would go with a krox if you start the lizzies. I started with a krox, 4 sauri, 7 skinks and got out well. Your anticipated skillchoices are good.

As far as CD's I am unexperienced, although I understood that starting with 2 BCs and 4 CDs is ok. Maybe you wont need the BG because of the blocking abilities of the CDs.

Depends on the lengh of your league.
If its a shorttetm league then I would start with the Krox.Otherwise I would buy him later.
But anyway I would take an apo for my starting roster because the skinks will be hurt increasingly fast.

if you're good and experienced with lizzies:

9 FF = 90
1 RR = 60
4 Skinks = 240
6 Sauri = 480
1 Kroxi = 130

first buy is an apoth, then RR up to 3, unless you go below 9 players.

it IS possible to win games with lizzies even with only 2 skinks and the powerhouses on the pitch. as i said, it requires attention and a bit of luck, so if you have never played with lizzies, or are not an experienced BB player, this is probably a bad idea.

EDIT: if you really don't feel like it, swap the krox for a skink + RR + 10k, which should allow you to get an apoth after game 1. also, avoid all kind of useless risks with your skinks: no dodging when it is not necessary, as few GFIs as possible, etc. don't block with Sauri before you have secured the ball carrier.

EDIT 2: for CD, i would go without BG:
7 FF = 90
2 RR = 100
2 Bulls = 260
6 CDB = 420
3 hobs = 120
spare 10k

or lower FF to 6, swap a CDB for a hobgob, and get 3 RR.
ps: this is NOT under the Rules Review 2004 which changed the RR price for CDs to 70k.

Kithor, the league will hopefully be 25-35 games (don't know if thats long or short).
krox, 4 sauri, 7 skinks
Thats not really doable in a TR100 starting team is it? ( forgot to mention its TR100)

25-35 game is a VERY long league in my book... so my roster should be even better there, since the goal is to have your Sauri develop quickly. don't forget to make them score on touchbacks :) you NEED that first skill, be it break tackle, block, or tackle.

Lizzis: With the Rule Review 2004 I wouldnt start with the Kroxi and with 24+ games you will have enough time to buy him later.

Starting with:
5 Saurus 400
6 Skinks 360
2 Rerolls 120
Apo 50
FF 7
If you lose no skink buy a Saurus next and then the Kroxi.

CD´s: Hm....everytime I read about them they are 2 good or just some of the weakest teams. I think it depends on the couch, but there is a reason for the RR-cash-change for CD´s to 70.000

I wouldnt start with a BG at CD´s under the new rules either. But if you like to take one, take the Minotaure he will normally increase quicker and Frenzy can bring a lot of preshure on the field.

EDIT here (thx 2 GUS, dont know what happened 2 my mind  )
I would go with:
2 Bulls 260
5 CD´s 350
4 Hobgobos 160
2 Rerolls 140
9 FF 90

or if you like the big guy in:
1 Mino 110
2 Bull 260
4 CD 280
4 Hob 120
2 Rerolls 140
9 FF 90
its really a nice one and if you can go the first 3 games without a kill that team can dominate.

if you go for the lizzies i would buy the krox in later, max out on the saurus from the start so that you can start their delvelopment asap and take five skinks. then take three re-rolls as they are double the cost once the league is under way, and i would think you will only need one more as four is plenty. this leaves you with fan factor four which is quite low (unless you are playing the new vault rules which means it is not as important), but you will hopefully be able to ride on the coat tales of other teams.

and for my chaos dwarfs i took both the bull centaurs as i find they are one of the best starting players in the game, and get even better later on in their development, i took all six dwarfs as you need to get them started so that skills can be gained quickly (which they should against skaven and elves) and i took four hobbo's so that you can have one sub. i would recomend sure hands for a hobbo as their first skill to void all the strip ball you will undoubtably be playing against, and to save on the re-rolls. this will leave you with enough to take 2 re-rolls (as long as your not playing according to their price in the rules review) and fan factor 6.

i hope this helps you a little, and it is a tough choice between these two teams but really i do not think that you can go wrong with either.

just to point out Aksho's second roster for CD is broken, it lists 2 BCs for 230 instead of 260.

Thats not really an issue here as the only BB mini I would use in either team ia a Krox, and even then with some conversion I think. I like the idea of using new (WHFB 6th ed) lizzie models though.

I completely converted my dwf team from old fantasy figs last time around. Now if only I could get round to painting the little buggers!
