Sounds like you're doing well though, and it's interesting to read your progress too.

I don't suppose there's a chance you may have photos of your minis laying about somewhere do you?

game #7 is over...

This time against some nice Norse including a Mino, coached by a coach i like playing against very much... lot of fun again.

Well, my team started with 7 ogres and 5 Gobbos... and ended with less.

Before the game one of the norse blitzer got a problem with a old wound and stayed away from this team... luckly ( for my gobbos

) the one with tackle.

1th turn... started with a perfect defence of my ogres and a desperate Norsecoach, trying to find a way after the re-arrangement of my positions to block my ogres without two dice against him ! Well, he dicided to pick up the ball instead and pass him to a player standing in the second row... hm, the pickup worked but not the pass...

... and after some blocking the way was free for my Gobbo to jump into the chaos , grab the ball and dodge into the safety of his big brothers again

2th turn... lots of block not hurting anyone...
3th turn... the mino, trying to block, knocked himself out

And one of the Norse catcher was killed by a ogre... luckly the Apo healed him. (BTW... I dont like killing players in game. hurting yes, but not killing! )
4th turn... the gobbo, speeding up, made the TD. 1:0 for the Ogres !
5th turn... another try of the Norse... some bad blocking and bad luck with the dice for the Norse !

7th turn... after blocking the ballcarrier with a ogre (after this accounter the norse missed this game !

) another gobbo took the ball !
8th turn... poor gobbo, standing alone with the ball ! The Norse thrower, thinking of a easy victim, speeding up with a GFI...blitzing the gobbo ... and ended with a double skull without a reroll left !

Even worse, he hurt himself at the pointy helmet of the gobbo, missed this and the next game, too !

The gobbo, drunken for fun, made the 2th TD. 2:0 for the Ogres !!

Second Half:

Just 9 Norse left on the field... but still it went better this half for the Norse also because the Bonehead dice turned up more often...

1th turn until 4th turn slowly walking into the direction of the Norse endzone my ball carrier gobbo hiding behind the large backs of the ogres.
5th turn after some norse managed to get into the cover, the gobbo had to run... after the 3 GFI ( it was the one with a pogostick) he crashed

and the Norses took over the ball !
6th turn One of the Gobbos was killed by a Norse !

7th turn Trying to knockout the Norse catcher, which was in the positon to recieve the ball and to score, the Ogre hurt himself( doubleskull no reroll left) Luckly the apo healed him and save him from a niggling !
8th turn argh.... my worst mistake !!!... i was winning this game and still wanted to stop the norse to score a TD !! So i send a gobbo into the way of the Norse Blitzer carring the ball.

Just one space more... GFI dice: 1 Armor dice: 11 Injury dice: 11 ... and cas: 6 !!! My best gobbo with sidestep and catch killed himself !!! Â§$%$Â§$%&&%$Â§

The game ended 2:1 for the ogres , 4:2 cas for the ogres... but the SPPs of the two TD and one cas went into the drain because of the killed two gobbos !

80.000 coins , still FF 1 (as i roll another 1 for the FF roll!) No new skills ! Now i have to buy another Gobbo or i have to play with 3 Gobbos and 7 ogres against another Norseteam with TR 159 against my 130 ! Bonehead count was again a good one: just 4 in the 1th half, about 9 at the 2th half. The norse coach got a lot of bad luck with his dice, too !

My team suffers about the same. I'm not adding gobbo's until I have 8 Ogres. Even if I have to play with 0 gobbo's. I might loose a couple of games, but after that gobbo's can be bought again and the....

NOBODY CAN STOP ME MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Don't buy a gobbo, better chances for the orges to get the mvp. Go for another ogre and a 3rd re-roll.

i thought so, too. No gobbo at the moment and saving for ogre #8

It will take maybe more than one game as i had to give the loan money back. So just 28.000 at the moment.

Will be interesting to play my orcs again this weekend at the B7 :
"... yes, its a big mini, true ,but its a Black orc and its no ogre ... and no, he hasnt Mighty Blow !! "

The bane of my Ogre own Ogre team turned out to be a Nurgle team (all with Block), well no permanent damage (thanks Apo), but Nurgle at medium TR (160-180) are just nasty against Ogres in the same range (or against me anyway).

1. Roll for Bonehead.
2. Roll for Foul Appearance
3. Dont roll Skull/Both down (1/9)
4. Penetrate AV 9 and Cause Cas.

Need I say this didnt work very well! and his Block/Tackle beastmen where absolutely killing my Gobz when my Ogres were engaged. I do have two Break-Tackle Ogres, but they simply could not protect or keep the ball.

Team was 6 Ogres & 5 Gobz, 3 RR - TR 165, pretty well developed with 1-2 skills on most players.

1. Ogre -
2. Ogre - Block, Guard
3. Ogre - Break Tackle, Guard
4. Ogre - Break Tackle, Guard
5. Ogre - Multiple Block, Guard
6. Ogre - Guard
7. Gob - Block, Dirty Player
8. Gob - Block, Diving Tackle
9. Gob -
10. Gob - Diving Tackle
11. Gob - Diving Tackle

Has anyone else played Nurgle successfully? My tactic at first was standard, block anything that moves and run the ball with a Gob. I changed that in the second half to "run from everything" and hope AV9 keeps the big morons alive untill the game ends (and you dont win games that way).

Any advice?

(and sorry for semi hijacking the thread, I like hearing of fellow Ogre exploits, so keep it comming)

Tonight i will have my next game... against a Norse team again and the coach, who won the B7 last weekend !

This game against this norse team and the B7 winning Coach is over... and i just have to tell, my worst BB game ever !!

It started not bad... i got 2 handicap rolls !! Hehooo ! Maybe one of his guy will stay out ? But, should i let guess you which i got ?

Yes, the most famous one... to decide if to kick or to recieve !! And the one, i bribed the ref for one event !

Luckly the norse with chainsaw stayed away because of a niggling. And i decided to keep the pogostick at home. Starting with just 9 Players i didnt want to loose the gobbo because of this !

Turn 1... After remembering Olafs Dirty Player at the B7 and the damages he did i blitzed the one of this team. And yes, he was killed ... and yes, healed again !

so a cas for my team, but he stayed in game ! The gobbo missed his pickup the ball ! The norse took their revenge and pushed one of my ogre into the fans... i was standing 3 squares away , but still, even with one dice block he was moved outside !

And iÂ´m talking about a Ogre, not a 3 or 4 ST player !!! And the fans gave him a beating... a niggling wound without the help of the apo ! ARGH !
Turn 2... remembering my Handicap roll i used a gobbo to foul the prone mino. hehooo... -1AV hit and out for this and the next game !

Also one of the ogres, quite in danger to visit the fans,too, blitzed his way free , KOeing a Norse blitzer on the way

The gobbo still didnt pick up the ball also using a RR for this !!!!

Turn 3... 2x Bonehead and so no safety area for the finaly ball picking up gobbo !!

The norse blitzed him and got a double push back !

And using a reroll he got another double Pushback !!! Lucky little one

Turn 4 ...the ogre trying to remove the tacklezone on the gobbo hurt himself and went missing this game !

Well, finaly the gobbo went down and the AG4 Catcher took the ball ! TD 1:0 for the Norse !
Turn 5 ... a rock come flying and stunned one of my Ogre ! One down ! Getting a touchback i gave the ball a ogre. Two ogres, trying to Block, went Bonehead , too ! Three out of business ! And finaly the one with ball went Bonehead, too !

Four out for this turn ! !

I needed my gobbos to form a kind of cage !
Turn 6 ... Another norse went into the hospital, than another Norse went KO ! It looked not too bad !!!

Turn 7 ... All ogres Bonehead !!! ALL !!!! And the ball was lost !
Turn 8... doing everything i could ... 3 cas against the Norse in this turn ! Still i couldnt stop the ball carrier... TD and 2:0 for the Norse !

2.HALF Cheering fans... with a FF of 1 against a norse FF of 11...

Each of our team got just 8 players left on the field !
Turn 4... again 2 Boneheaded Ogres trying to put tacklezones on the ball ! A gobbo (!) blocked his way into to get at last one tackle zone, using the last of my RR.

Turn 5... after blocking all the covering Norse away, the ogre, trying a blitz on the ball carrier went, guess what,... bonehead ! Argh !

Turn 6 ... TD for the Norse again ! 3:0 !!!

Turn 7 ... kickoff ... oh no ! Another rock come flying... this time giving a Goblin a niggling headwound ! FF of 1 isnt good !! Not at all !!!

3 of 5 ogres Blocks bonehead while blocking !!!!

The ball shattering out of reach as i hoped for a touchback and put the remaining two gobbos behind the ogres to try a team mate throw ! DAMM ! And the one ogre trying to block without Bonehead...and without RR ... put himself down ! Â§$%%$Â§ !
Turn8 ...So the gobbo trying to keep a Tacklezone on the ball was pushed away, the ball was pickuped and with a GFI ... 4:0 for the Norse !
Last action on the field and of the possible 5 Blocks of my ogres 2 went bonehead again...

So the game ended 4:0 for the norse and 2:5 Cas ! At last three ogres got a skill ... and i gave all of them Guard ! 70.000 win ... i loaned again some money and i bought another ogre. FF went up to 2 !!!!
Bonehead count: 1th half : 8 and 2th half: 10 Lost blitzes because of it : 2

Next game against a Nurgle team i will field 7 Ogres and 1 gobbo because one ogre and two gobbos will missing the next game !

Of the three ogre Teams at my league, all got the same problem and dont want to play them again !!!

it seems that your streak of bad luck is continuing

... Nevermind the loss, atleast you have beaten up the Norse

!

My Ogre have finished their first league and went 1-5. Most matches were pretty close (I only lost with 1 TD difference) but in my last game I got my a$$ handed to me by Amazons 3:0. At least I managed to cause 6 CAS - always go for the 3-dice-blocks

!!! But the lack of the Block-Skill is really hurting the team, my Ogres went down so many times when being blocked with 1- or even 1/2-die blocks.
That's why I gave "Block" to my one Ogre who rolled a double for his first skill

. I know that I have praised "Sure Hands" for the first double, but my ballcarrying Ogre with Sure Hands has been knocked down so many times (and is now dead

) that I will now try something else. Next skill for him will be Multiple Block as I already have 4 Ogres with Guard - make every block count!

Anyhow, I hope you will have some fun games in the future

! I still enjoy playing my Ogres and I still hope that they will get better within the next 5 games or so. I really do not understand why so many people say that they are broken

...(or is it because I am such a bad coach

).

No wonder to me that ogres without block skill went down too often.

Probabilities of ogre falling:
Ogre attacking without block 2 dice you choose: 11.11%
Ogre attacking without block 3 dice you choose: 3.7%

If opponent attacks ogre:
1 dice: 50%
2 dice you(defender) choose: 25%
3 dice you choose : 12,5%
2 dice att. choose: 75%
