OK,
Spikey if round the corner and this will be my second tournie.
It is a TR110 event.
I normally play Chaos Dwarf and really enjoy playing them, (even though I’m not very effective wiith them). Up until about 2 days ago, I was dead set on taking them.
I’m now however strangely drawn to taking a Chaos team! I’ve always had a soft spot for Chaos, mainly dating back to my old Warhammer days as a kid. However most people I have spoken to and info I have read, really knocks Chaos as a tournament team, as Chaos perform better under a long term league format. So the question I ask is, ARE CHAOS A VIABLE 110 TOURNIE TEAM?
I was thinking either:
(a) 4 CW, 1 Mino, 6Beast, 2RR, 1 Apoth & FF4.
(b) 3 CW, 1 Mino, 7 Beast, 3RR 1 Apoth FF1
As always any hints/tips/insults are always welcome.
Take care
Mr Stick

I played Chaos once at TR110 but went with:
1x Mino
4x CW
6x Beastman
3x TRR
FF2
You need all the TRRs, 2 won't do bc you don't have any skills at all.
I went with skill progression as follows:
1x Sure Hands Beastman
1x Kick Beastman
3x MB CWs
1x Claw MB
Which was a mistake, I did most CAS in the first game when I had no MB/Claw and did no CAS at all afterwards - even against AV7/8 teams. Block + guard would have been the better choices, but Sure Hands and Kick worked out pretty good: Sure Hands will prevent wasting TRR for non-vital rolls and Kick is good to offset you low speed a little.
BTW you need luck with Chaos on tournies, you are slow, without skills and can't ball handle. You have to roll above-average with your block dice and armour breaks, if you roll average you will most probably lose most of your games.
Chaos can score but be prepared to do dodges and sprints without TRRs left in order to catch with the opponent or to score.

I think they are a long term team that realy play well if you play long leageu's, the things if heard about them are that they can turn in to a killing force, but it take's some time.
This is all I really know about them becouse i'f never played against a developt chaos team, and never thought about starting one my self, I like orcs if I whant to start a bashing team and DE if I don't want a blocking team.

I saw Geggster get some very good results with Chaos at the last Lutece Bowl. He used only 1 CW and a mino. Don't know what the rest was, but my guess would be 10 Beastmen, 3 RR and a more than decent FF.
I think a lot depends on the skill distribution. At Lutece, chaos would get 1 double before game one (which went to claw on the Mino). Obviously Chaos benefits from doubles, but also from getting several skills and being able to stack. On the other hand, if you can choose which player to give a skill to, than sure hands on CW might pay off...

In general: The greatest of coaches will always perform well, regardless of the race they play.
Since I don't consider myself one of them I have devoted some thought to which races will work really well in a tournament setting. My conclusion was that you need either exceptional stats or good starting skills.
Chaos have neither. This should mean that you perform slightly less well with them than you would with another race. If your goal for the tournament is to finish as high as possible, don't play them.
If you want to challenge yourself to the max, get them!

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.
