With tackle though he's quite good at the "marking" job - with prehensile tail and block making him harder to 1/2 dice block. He doesn't need to blitz...Thadrin wrote:I like the Dodge idea...Tackle is good, but he's going to likely be facing off against a gyu without dodge on any team other than well advanced elves...unless you want an unreliable sweeper...

tackle is very good as it's tough to get for sauri, they need block or bt first and have a long way to get to a second or even third skill. additionally tackle combines very well with prehensile tail. i would consider diving tackle as well, as it makes fleeing him even harder. but i think tackle is the better skill for a blocking krox as it improves his blocking ability.

I think the worst thing that can happen to your block/ DT Krox is to actually make a diving tackle. Even the most wussie of elf coaches will plant a boot between his eyes then
Tackle it should be.

Tackle it should be.

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

Oh yeah...but he's guarenteed to bonehead and lose his TZ at the key moment.ianwilliams wrote:

I'm feeling very cynical at the moment.

Exactly. I would just go pro. It's probably about as good as tackle if you want to block or blitz, and you get a more reliable player.Thadrin wrote:Oh yeah...but he's guarenteed to bonehead and lose his TZ at the key moment.ianwilliams wrote:

As Thadrin points out, you'll often be hitting linemen and other blockers, all of whom tend to lack the dodge skill. This makes Tackle less of a clear choice.
Manueverability for this player is critical. However, he is kinda unreliable. I would prefer a Saurus to be blitzing that blodgy git about to score and not the Bone Headed Kroxigor. So turning him into a sweeper is not necessarily a great idea. I know I for one would not often use him in such a capacity.
Stand Firm is a great idea. It stops him being pushed around, and so helps you control territory. It can later be combined with standard skills selections of Break Tackle and Guard (as well as the irritating as heck, for the opponent
, prehensile tail) to move him to places in and around the scrum for the ball and be one serious inconvenience to the opposition. From such a position he can also greatly help the team every turn without actually having to perform an action, so no need to be always rolling for Bone Head, which is a plus. I personally had an Ogre on my Chaos team who had Block, Break Tackle and Guard. He used these to put himself somewhere he'd be useful for the next couple of turns and then did nothing so as not to become Bone Headed. He had a huge impact on most drives and would definitely have taken Stand Firm if I got another double as he can then Dodge without fear to some crazy places to best use the Guard and not be moved once there. Throw in the benefits of putting the incredibly useful, for you
, prehensile tail into action in the best spots you can see (ie not next to some random linemen but in his pocket next to the ball carrier) and Stand Firm is a clear favorite.
