Vault: First skill on a wardancer

Post by Cephalopod »

Hello all,

I haven't run a wood elf team in a league before, and I was curious about what the best first skill on a Wardancer would be? I'm leaning towards strip ball over dauntless or tackle, but I might be missing something.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Strip Ball is the old standard, and I don't that much has changed in PBBL for it not to be anymore. :) Dauntless is a decent pick now that it no longer requires a doubles roll, and you might also find some joy in Wrestle. Other valuable Wardancer skills might include Side Step, Fend, Jump Up (no longer a double), Pass Block. Shadowing ... the list goes on. Wardancers have quite a good base of skills upon which to build!

I don't know if causing casualties has ever been a priority for WEs ... they will struggle to out-hit Halflings. The ball is the only thing that matters. In that case, Nerves of Steel or Juggernaut are valuable doubles picks. The latter is only of any use if the Wardancer already has Strip Ball though... :)

I'm thinking about holding off playing one of my teams just so that I can try the Juggernaut/Strip Ball Human Blitzer team ... these guys would be able to remove balls 35 out of 36 rolls on 2 dice blocks .... that's some great drive stopping ability.

If they can get a chance to blitz on the ball carrier. In my experience, that happens about 1 time in every 36 turns with Humans.

Isn't this a thread better suited to the vault section?

I wasn't sure, so I made a judgement call.

Thanks for the pointers. I'll give him strip ball and see how it works out. So far so good with tree-free woodies in the PBBL (should get in more games next week).

It's a 50/50 call. As long as it's made clear in the title that it's a Vault team, I think it's fine here. It's not really feedback, or rules queries, which is what the vault sections for.
