Why are starplayers mostly not allowed in leagues?

Did you guys see my idea about stars? I think it could definitely have some merit, as a way to bring them back in a balanced way. Basically it was that each team would have access to only 1 star, and none of them would be big guys (except for stunties) until big guy teams come back.

IE Morg would only play for an ogre team.

But in the meantime, the current races would all get to have 1 star... so the humans could have Griff, but ONLY griff (they couldn't get zug or morg or luthor and so on) the chaos could have lord borak but ONLY lord borak (no mino star, no troll star, no gobbo stars, etc). Orcs could have Varag but ONLY Varag, etc.

I'd also like to make new stars for dark and high elves because the current ones suck. Maybe make Prince Moranian have an extra skill or two for same cost, and maybe toss the DE assassin entirely and bring back old Tuern Redvenom (7448 blk, dge, tackle, dp)

Under this system star players could be a full part of the roster and not freeboot only. I would suggest they take a position slot tho

Stars are bannished cos:

Some of them are too strong (like Varag and Griff).
Have you seen Zidane in a D4 Club?
It is cooler to get his own stars.

Well our league still uses Star Players, not just as free booters though, as full timers as well. But we allow the SP'ers to continue to advance as well, unless they have reached the peaked limit like Griff and Morg. They still earn spps though and jack up your TR.

So far in the short term we have had little problem with them. Some have actually hindered far more than helped. Out of the twelve teams in the current tournament, more than half have star players on their rosters.

Strange, we never even considered Freezing them at their current level, unless they were peaked. We just let who ever owns them at the time of their level increase roll and pick whatever they want.

I made a mini for Griff, and now I can't field it anymore because there is no more Griff!! His mini was the worse mini I EVER saw, but I made one just for him with greenstuff and bits. I just can't use that mini as a normal blitzer, I already have 4 of them.

They can be allowed at the triple of their written price!! That will make them so hard to buy that you will not have the money to buy them, and if you do, well then your team rating will not be exactly what your team is worth and you will get so handicaped because of it that stars will not be so desirable. And no one is going to pay 540k GC by Griff to see him get killed on one lousy dice roll.

Actually this would reduce your TR as you'd be spending 54k (so TR -54) and increasing by 18 (Griff's standard cost) for a net TR reduction of 36, which might net you a handicap rol as well.

Oh sorry darkson, I ment that you spent 540k on Griff but he would raise your TR by 54 points, not the usual 18! This will cause you problems, lots of them, when you could make better use of your money. But those are the stars, they should cost much much more because they are extremely rare.
