The current rules (LRB) don't state anywhere that ogres are double price for Halfies or Gobbos.
I think it does appear a little unfair to be twice the cost for these teams, after all why are they able to do so much more for Halflings or gobbos, than for other teams.
IMHO the price is right as it stands, it can't be fair to penalise these teams. They already have to content with extremely low st, no skill choices but AG, and +1 to injury rolls, lower pass capability, and wafer thin armour.
I am not saying Halflings or Gobbos are rubbish, far from it, I think they are a contending team like any other. However, you have to play them with alot of skill, they are by no means a forgiving team. Make mistakes and suddenly you'll be 5-0 down with 2 players left on the pitch!
My point is simply that there is really no feasible reason that H and G should be prevented from fielding ogres by their cost. They can only have a maximum of 2, so I think it is likely that GW deliberately left this out having realised it was a needless disadvantage.
But thats just my opinion, if anyone can justify why they should be cheaper, in terms of rule balancing I'm all ears. (Despite that last sentence sounding sarcastic it's not meant to be!)

It's really only for "fluff" reasons. The Halflings and Gobbos are supposed to be very difficult to win with. For my leagues, I'd like to "even the odds" just a bit, but Jervis has stated before (a long time ago, though) that his goal is the opposite -- he wants to crock the little guys even more!

Oh aye it just fits thus motherless-goats to make sure the "joke" teams are totally screwed up the treat.
Otherwise it's a no-brainer and a Goblin coach goes for the Ogres first thing. Instead one is force to have to sit and decide early just how to set up the team. The Trolls are nice, but I'd rather take the Ogres any day.
Now if only I was allowed to give Strong Arm to one of the Ogres I'd be happier than a Gobbo with a Squig wagon.

Even the Goblin coach gets a +1 to injury rolls! Ow!

Tell me about it! I've been dying to use pogos all season in the TBBF, but that heartless commish we have wouldn't allow them this year.
(Rumour is he had a bad encounter with the goblin cheerleaders in a back-alley one season.) So instead the goblins laid the beats in our currently running Bloodbowl playoffs by shutting out his vaulted Norse team. (Having his Team captain crushed under a pile of empty Guinness cans was a magic moment.) A goblin team without the weapons is still effective in the hands of a good coach, but those weapons just make your team all the more chaotic and fun to play. Pogos if you plan on actually scoring, and everything else just for the mayhem value.

Gobbos are so much fun with secret weapons... so many people haven't played against them and tend to panic when they see them!
Paniced by goblins! Ha ha !!
I reckon the old halflings should be given a secret weapon too. Remember the Halfling Hotpot from Warhammer? Well how about some sort of hotpot halfling launcher?
Yeah so its not exactly small to sneak on the pitch... but are you telling me a gobbo hides his pogo stick? If the answer is yes he does, I don't want to know where he hides it!!
