AG 5 Goblin?
Playing in a Vault league with an Orc team, I rolled 11 for the second skill increase of my Goblin. His first skill increase also was +1AG (Hallelujah!).
I was very happy with an AG4 Goblin. I already made great use of it (Stunty + Dodge + AG4 rocks).
However, I don't see why I should take it to AG5. Granted, he'll pick up the ball in several tackle zones. But his Greenskin buddies manage quite well in "liberating" the ball from tackle zones.
So it could be useful for landing after being thrown by the Troll. But the Troll isn't very reliable in Throwing, and I feel I have more succes trying to score making use of a solid drive. Also, why would I want to score quickly with Orcs? There is only a rare occasion when this can win me the match.
So I was thinking of ditching the (expensive) AG5 and taking good ol' Sure Feet instead. I noticed MA8 and AG4 make a great combination on a ball retreiving Goblin for a solid Orc team.
Will I waist a precious gem here?

You have no need for it at the Dodge, but at picking up in Tackle Zones, and why not having a quiet good Thrower now??? sending up a Blitzer wide and making the defensive open up because they are afraid of a Long Pass. Also cathing on a 2 in a tackle zone and then just dodge away like nothing ..... never give away AG 5!!!!

I'm used to playing Skaven. I know how powerful the AG4 MA9 Gutter Runners can be.Brokje wrote:Sure feet you can only use on movement...
If I get my Gobbo Sure Feet, he'll be nearly as good + the added advantage of Stunty while dodgeing!
I'm not throwing the ball, certainly not with my Gobbo. Dodgeing doesn't get any better than AG4 + Stunty (2+ dodges all the time).
I don't throw the git, because it will get eaten and it's the best way to lose control of the game. Only a desperate option unless you're playing Halflings, Goblins or Ogres.
So the only time I could get advantage of it, is when I have to pick up the ball in TZ's. But as I said before, his buddies are quite good at removing TZ's from the ball. Guard and ST5 / ST4 can become quite ugly, especially when used en masse.
Getting the Gobbo MA8 with Sure Feet will make his ball retreiving skill much more mobile. I just put him somewhere in the centre behind my wall of Orcs and he'll get absolutely anywhere!
Thanks for the input.

i would still go with the ag5. as you said, the troll is not super reliable, HOWEVER when you get the ball on turn 8 why wouldn't you at least TRY it?
having an ag5 gobbo to attempt the landing would be a big boon for your chances of overall success.
then, as you said, there are all the other times when it could be used (pickup or catch in tz's, etc).
he'd be a terror.

Sorry Totti,
After doing some thinking
I decided to go with the AG5 Goblin. Picking up the ball in front of your stumbling Rotters and Dodgeing the hell out of there before my Black Orcs beat the crap out of you is going to make me smile so much!
