Which skill for an AG 4 human blitzer?

Post by Brokje »

Hi there!
I have a human team, 4 Blitzers, Block Ogre, Thrower and some linos. One of the Blitzers earned himself a new skill after already having rolled an AG increase. I have not yet rolled the dice! Actually, he could still be killed before the game ends :-? (but I still do have the APO :D )!

What should I give him?

In case of a double I was thinking Dodge, Frenzy or Stand Firm. Dodge would increase survivability and make him a sort of Elf. Stand Firm has its obvious uses, and Frenzy can clear sidelines (especially with his MV 7).

For a normal roll I was thinking of Strip Ball, as he then can blitz the ball carrier grab the ball and get away.

What fits best with his Agility upgrade? Any other possibilities I have missed?
Thanks!

In a single skill i would go for Strip ball and in case of Double Stand firm without any doubt, frenzy's not very usefull for an agi 4 blitzer maybe a Strength 4 blitzer but not agil.

To be honest, I was thinking that as well.

Hi,

tackle is a option as well. So you can easy dodge out and kill those nasty catchers. On a double you could get leap to leap in to cages and knock down the slowly guys. Just a few other options...

Hard decision!

On a normal roll, Pass Block on an AG4 Blitzer would be a lot of fun once in awhile, but unless your defense needs focus against elves, rats, other human-types and such, you might find more value out of a more standard Blitzer Skill like Pro and Tackle. Nerves of Steel was quite good in 3rd, but now that you need doubles to get it, it's no competition for Dodge or Stand Firm. I think Dodge is better than Stand Firm for a Human Blitzer, and even moreso for an AG4 Blitzer, but I wouldn't fault anyone for the opposite opinion.

I'd do exactly the same for him as I would an AG3 Blitzer. He's still playing in that role, and the AG serves to benefit that. All the normal choices (Guard, Tackle, Stand Firm, Dodge) are enhanced by the +AG.

I myself was recently blessed with a ag 4 human Blitzer. My plan of developement to begin with was Guard/Tackle/MB. The fact that he then rolled a double botched that plan.

Though Stand Firm and Dodge are fine choices on doubles I took Frenzy instead - the reasoning behind this is that all teams basically need a Frenzy player and while a str. 4 player would indeed be more handy for this I'm not going to wait around for another Blitzer rolling a stat increase and a double...

So far he's proven quite valuable as his now increased mobility makes him a constant threat to the sidelines. I also tend to place him in the middle on defence and offence alike.

If your skill roll is a normal one I'd still just go Guard as it would increase your team's performance far more than strip ball - and the added agility makes Guard even better.

Pass Block would probably make little baby Nuffle cry...

By the way - here he is:

Guess what! He survives the match, but ages! -1 AV! I gave him strip ball because Guard would put hime too much in the thick of things. Now I have a strip ball wood elf in my human team!

My last human team have had 4 players with +AG - thrower, 2 blitzers and lineman. I usually used blitzers&lineman as ad-hoc throwers wich greatly improve flexibility of play (4 possible throwers on pitch) or for handoff-pass combo...

sugestion - in defence keep your +AG blitzer as safety and in offence keep him near the LOS so he can be a middleman for handoff/pass actions.
