4 choices

1 - Interceptor - its quite specialised position and its quite easy for opponents to avoid passing over him. To make this work you'll need to give a couple of LW's PB too to give you good backfield coverage

2 - War dancer - leap, block, strip ball and/or tackle. Quite a long way to go to get to this state. You may be able to get away without leap for a while since you've still got a 75% chance of getting into 3 TZs. He will become even more of a target

3 - Ball Getter - job is to pickup the ball in TZ's so Sure Hands and then either Block (to survive resultant blitzes) or Dump Off so he can pass it to someone safer.

4 - General annoyance - just give him Block and he's going to be incredibly useful without filling a specific role in the team. This is the bloke who picks up the ball, or catches it in a couple of TZ's or dodges in for the assist. Then when you finally reach your next skill consider which path to follow.

Harleqin, give this guy block and make him the front player on your loose cage. This way your cage is better protected, and if you can get the "cage" close enough to the endzone, let him score. With AG5 and dodge you can surprise your opponents. Most of the time they'll look at your catchers or blitzers, and may never suspect that you'll try to score with a lineman.

My starting team

Post by Kamikaze Rudy »

I started my most recent High Elf team with the following...

1 Phoenix Warrior
3 Lion Warriors
1 Dragon Warrior
6 Lineman
1 Re-roll
8 Fan Factor

I had never attempted to write up a HE team for a season. I knew that I wouldn't be playing many bashy teams, and I knew that my first game would be against a rookie Human team. I also knew that I wanted the catchers to be the star on this team. I ended up losing 4-5 in OT in the first game, but I got some SPP's to set the foundation for the future.

Time will only tell how well this team will do.

Interesting line-up Kamikaze. Have you managed to come around to winning now?

My starting team was:
10 LineEleves
1 Phoenix Warrior
3 rerolls
7 FF

Started out by beating Orcs 2-1, then Humans 1-0 and then I lost an intense match against Skaven 2-4, but managed to make 5 casualties. Have rolled two ones in a row for winnings though so I have managed to buy an apothecary and now have 70K in the bank. Can't decide whether to save for a DW or a LW.

Cheers for the input regarding my AG5 player.

Starting with LW's means that your line elves will be less developed, and you need some good line elves to form the back bone of the team, because otherwise your team will fall apart if the LWs get taken out.

Thankfully LW's integrate really well into developed teams thanks to their great stat line and its not too difficult to get that 1st skill for them.
