New Blood Bowl League

Post by MightyMightyMootstones »

We've got a new blood bowl league starting at Pyramid Games in New Egypt NJ. I'm playing Halflings in the league, and was wondering if anyone had any advice they would care to lend. Heres my schedule for the pre-playoff season.
One game a week, my Halfings...

Wk 1 vs. Khemri
Wk 2 vs. Norse
Wk 3 vs. Skaven
Wk 4 vs. Orcs
Wk 5 vs. High Elfs
Wk 6 vs. Dark Elfs
Wk 7 vs. Ogres.

I've been playing Halfings for about 5 years now, and have played all these types of teams before, but it's always good to get a little advice from fresh voices before you jump into the fray. If any of you live in the area and want to come check out the league, New Egypt is almost the exact center of NJ, about 10 minutes from Great Adventure, Rt 195, Rt 295, or the turnpike. The store is on Main st. I hope to hear from some fellow stunties...

Wow, that's a really really brutal initial schedule. Khemri, Norse, and Orcs in three of the first four matches? They have enough strength and/or Block to make life really miserable for your poppets. Though on the other hand, you don't sound too worried.

I can see you outscoring the Khemri.
I could see you struggling against the Norse's Block.
At least your first three opponents are lowish on the AV values, so you might be able to get some numbers advantage via MB and fouling. The real acid test should be those Orcs. Maybe that would be a good time to freeboot Deeproot? That, or pile on the extra ingredients...

All in all, good luck. I would hate to face that early schedule.

The Key is to have 3 treees at the start and 3 ingredients then the first game will be not as bad. Because without rerolls the khemri will have problems to get the ball. The next game you TV under 100 so you got a handicap which could help as well. You should try to hire deeproot as often as possible. He is the key and pray for doubles on your trees to give them block.

Thanks for the input. I've never liked to hire deeproot, if only for the reason that i want to prove it can be done without him. I'm using only two trees, which until recently is two more than i've ever used. Well my first game is tonight, so i guess i'll see how I hold up against this Khemri team. Time to go get the pre-game meal on.

First game went really well. Beat the Khemri team 1-0. The weather changed quite a bit but other than that, nothing really outstanding happened. The LOS never moved more then a square or two, and my tree men managed to hold up his mumies for most of the game.

Sorry, but everybody is allowed to ask advise and tips, there are always ways to become better, especially when you play halflings. So you should be ashamed of treating your fellow league-players like this.
