how to beat lizardmen

Post by tanka »

hi guys been playing against lizardmen recently with mixed success and failure. I play with wood elves

2 wardancers
1thrower
8 linesmen
1ff
2re-rell

we only play one off games so not in a league

he uses
4 skinks
6 sauras
kroxigor
2 re-rolls
unknown ff

ive tried killing his skinks but just cant kill them all.
oh by the way before games we roll a d6 and thats how many players are allowed a skill, a bit like the blood bowl rules.
So my question is should i develop a dirty player?
also any other help would be nice

one WD strip ball, the other tackle would be my skill choices.

"Don't care" about the ST 4 guys, dodge away and try to give him as few blocks as possible (best only the blitz)

if you get more skills..hmm maybe kick (although the skinks are fast anyway) and block on the lineman. dirty player is an option but since you have 1 player less to start you will need every player - an ejected player doesn't help

That's dangerous advice IMHO. Tying up the saurus is very important to win the game, and on most turns I'd say it's worth the risk. He has only 2 RRs, which means he'll run out of them unless he gets a lot of Block.

Hmm. he doesnt use a lot of skinks. As they have lower Ag than the surus, and stunty, try to get them off the pitch - theres only four. with out his runners he'll have a harder time scoring.

Stay away from the Surus as then he'll have to blitz you - and can only do it once a turn, so less blocks for him. Keep dogoing etc... to, your a wood elf - master of dodge!

Hunt the skinks.

Exploit the fact that Saurus can't dodge by marking them, but only on key turns. You don't want to offer them too many opportunities to hurt you.

WEs are better suited than most to deal with Lizzies ... leaping past the wall of Saurus to get to the Skinks.

The Kroxigor's Prehensile Tail will probably cause you a lot of problems ... be wary of that.

A good Lizzie player will take Break Tackle as first skill on a least one Saurus. If not, you should be fine.

Cheers
Joe

The best current Lizard player "alronno" (according to NAF ratings) does not take Break Tackle on any of his Saurus (in Tournament play).

if you're getting skills for players, take tackle. you'll put the skinks down much more (especially since as WE's you dont have block) and their stunty will catch up to them if you keep on skink hunting. Once they're off the pitch, the lizard coach will have a heck of a time ballhandling and if you have a lot of skills to distribute, strip ball wouldnt be a bad idea either for getting the ball back from the rogue saurus that may end up with the ball.

Otherwise yes, stay away from the st4's and the krox as much as possible, unless tying them up will be more effective to keep them away from your own ballcarrier. and dont worry too much about the prehensile tail... you're still dodging away on a 3+, boo hoo now you're a "normal" player instead of an elf ;)

Pick the right time, put TZs on the ST4 and ST5 guys, then hunt the Skinks. Your two WDs should be able to put some pretty good hits on the Skinks.

This is risky, but works. Especially if he does not give block to his saurus, it's a question of time before he fails one of his blocks.

Put TZs on the Saurus before he creates a cage. The Skinks can't hide in the middle of Saurus at that point.

Well, works great with AV8 DE. More risky with AV7 WE. But since you are playing one-ofs, give it a try.

why'd you make wood elves with only 1ff? they need all the money they can get! PBBL League perhaps?

Stay away from his players. With lucky dices you start losing players early and afterwards you will have problems to get his skinks off the pitch.

only 4 skinks? Easy!

if he sets all his saurus on the line of scrimmage, 1 WD on each side, supported by Linemen. blitz down the pitch with WD, and with AG 4 blitzers, you can afford to do a long pass or bomb. from there, u can easily outrun them, even with a 1 turn TD like my bro does with skaven.
